| AdolfOliverPanties Cow Enzymes In Your Cheese Seriously? Shocked and appalled. Why the fark do they have to involve cows in cheese-making? |
| MacEnvy Really? These are the 'grossest things' in your food? You aren't eating the right food then. I mean Isinglass, seriously? Jesus people, I'd hate to imagine if you had to make venison sausage. Pantywaists. |
| ArkAngel This article reads like it was written like a very angry vegan. What baffles me most is how he rails against cellulose. Cellulose is in every green plant. |
| Mugato They don't call it jerked chicken for nothing. |
| Makh I'm both disgusted and happy with what they have been putting in the chicken. |
| GreenAdder None of this surprises me. None of this is new information to me. Pass the Sriracha. |
| 2wolves How can you tell when your chickens are depressed? |

| 2wolves GreenAdder: 2wolves: How can you tell when your chickens are depressed? They can't get to the other side. They have to want to cross the road? |
| brap The only things that affect me are chicken and cheese and I eat organic no-hormone chicken (yes it's wildly expensive but whatever, I don't want to live like a lab rat) and cheese, which I understand has always used rennet as a starter in very minute amounts. I'd be more worried about a rennet substitute at this point, it's worked for thousands of years. |

tl;dr: everything you eat should be vegan/organic. that's real news! |
| GreenAdder 2wolves: GreenAdder: 2wolves: How can you tell when your chickens are depressed? They can't get to the other side. They have to want to cross the road? No... see, it wants to cross the road. It knows that crossing the road would make the other chickens happy, and maybe it would get the acceptance it craves. But it just can't seem to motivate itself. Maybe it's just used to failure. Maybe it would be better off just laying in the road until a car comes by. It's not like anyone would miss one chicken, right? |

Jesus farking Christ! Any good brewer knows what isinglass comes from and is used for... Same goes for rennet and pepsin - these are enzymes that have been used in cheese-making since the beginning of time. Probably the biggest thing to be concerned about is all the shiat in chicken if you aren't raising your own or buying from a reputable local source (KFC is not a reputable local source). |
| Shostie AdolfOliverPanties: Cow Enzymes In Your Cheese Seriously? Shocked and appalled. Why the fark do they have to involve cows in cheese-making? Yeah. That one struck me, too. "THIS JUST IN! WE'VE UNCOVERED EVIDENCE OF A CONSPIRACY TO MAKE CHEESE USING RENNET, AN ENZYME TAKEN FROM COWS! WE ESTIMATE THAT THIS PRACTICE HAS BEEN GOING ON... uh. Since ever..." |
| GreenAdder Elzar: Any good brewer knows what isinglass comes from and is used for Yeah. That's where they took the hobbits. |
| fragMasterFlash They've been putting WHAT in my chicken? Oontz...oontz...oontz...oontz...oontz ...oontz...OH YEAH! |
| doyner Throbbing Boehners, subby. That's what. |

Next thing you know, they'll tell us they use horse bones and hides to make Jello. /don't let the author anywhere near blood sausage |

Centipedes? In MY vagina? It's more likely than you think! |

brap: I eat organic no-hormone chicken Hormones were banned from poultry production in the US over 50 years ago. |
| APE992 Old news. Anyone who didn't know all of this already is more than happy to be ignorant. |
| WeenerGord
So a guy goes into a luncheon counter and asks "What's the special today?" Waiter says "Beef Tongue sandwich" Guy goes "Eww, that's disgusting! I can't eat something that came out of a cows mouth! Just bring me an egg salad sandwich." |
| bojon And don't ask what is in Jello! |

Lenkyl: tl;dr: everything you eat should be vegan/organic. that's real news! Any diet lacking bacon is a diet I want no part in. |
| RogermcAllen Lanolin isn't even close to the worst thing in gum base. Fun fact: Gum isn't food, so they can put all sorts of synthetic polymers into gum base that aren't normally allowed for human consumption. |

If those are the most disgusting things in your food, you aren't insulting enough waiters and busboys. |
| R.A.Danny Of all the gross things I've read, this isn't one of them. |
| LadyBelgara
Mmmmmmm...wood pulp. jaytkay: brap: I eat organic no-hormone chicken Hormones were banned from poultry production in the US over 50 years ago. Antidepressants are still fair game! Woohoo! |

None of that bothers me except the chicken thing. I've been reducing my chicken intake for a couple months, preferring to eat beef instead. Of course all of our meat production in this country is so perverted that about the only way you can eat healthy is by living on a farm and raising your own meat animals. |
| puffy999 Ah, thank you, article. It's either "eat food with this shiat in it" or "eat vegan." Apparently, there's NO in-between. |
farkingismybusiness ![]() They coat my candy in what? |

| BGates
None of those were gross. |

Passed a Chinese place today. It was called Golden Surprise. Had a Coke sign in the window. Really. |

I clicked expecting a rant about the number of fly eggs allowed in a slice of pizza or something, but it's just an article going on about chemicals found in food that are also found in not-food. And they missed silica. "What? SAND in my food??" |
| KarmicDisaster Guess what? Chicken Butt. |
| LadyBelgara
I loved the cheese outrage. MY GOD! COW BITS IN SOMETHING MADE OF COW'S MILK? |
| nmemkha Most of the "horrors" described in TFA are naturally-derived substances that have been used in food production since before industrialization. |
| SanjiSasuke
None of that made me even think it was bad. Cow enzymes in my cheese? Ya don't say! The cereal was the dumbest one. Oh no, there is a plant based ingredient that provides the fiber that is advertised on the box! What were you expecting it to be? Magic? |
| real_kibo
Wait 'til the article's author finds out what those dark brown flecks stuck to supermarket mushrooms are. |
| TheTurtle
nmemkha: Most of the "horrors" described in TFA are naturally-derived substances that have been used in food production since before industrialization. Indeed. I'm all, "hoogizzashiat?" They might as well have subtitled that, "make fun of everyone who isn't vegan!" |
