I think this is the first Olympics without baseball. From what I've read it seems Europe doesn't want it in there and the pros don't want to play either.

They had it from 1992 to 2008. It was dropped apparently because the IOC decided that baseball doesn't have enough of a world following for enough nations to be competitive, not to mention MLB not allowing its players to participate (via not suspending the season like the NHL does) as well as baseball's issues with steroids.
