I honestly felt a little bit of sub-conscious panic when I saw that BEFORE I remembered the movies.

Yes. My advice to SteakMan is if you enjoyed Phantasm when you were younger, as I did, hold on to those memories and do not re-watch it.

Hellraiser still holds up very well. I pull it out every year or two to watch. It's not perfect, but it is solid and well-done. It deserves its status.

I think the only really deserving sequel was Hellraiser: Deader. It takes the Hellraiser concept and does something original with it.
