My energy companies are both profitable and environmentally friendly. Instead of burying all of the dead, oil-drenched birds, we burn those in our power plants for fuel!

Wow, that's pretty corrupt.

/ haven't heard of anything that bad from a public utility district
// I'm guessing they don't have those in the South ( because it would be "Socialistic")

I have a multi tenant building they do electric/gas to. The other day I had two different tenants turning on utilities. For god knows why they couldn't combined them and opted to send two different techs on the same day. That and they decided to switch the meters to smart meters. For the 9-12 meters in that building they required 3 different install dates. That is the most inefficient company I have ever seen. I had another property with 5 accounts with them. Call up to switch billing to my office. They some how manage to bill all 5 to separate addresses and none of them were correct. I must of called them 5 times and verified all these after that until I just gave up. I am glad my mail people are pretty good and figure that stuff out. Oh man I could give 10 more examples like this. I don't understand how that company manages to screw up or over complicate everything it touches like it does.

They suck at their job because there are no consequences for it. What are you gonna do if they piss you off too much, go down to the local Wal Mart and buy some electricity from them? What a farking racket.

This thread reminds be of the Pepco thread, leaving power off for a week-plus after a storm, in 102 degree temps.

You know, with the coming emergence of ever-cheaper solar power and using electric cars for energy storage, I wonder if southern locations with especially idiotic customer service in their energy monopolies will start increasingly seeing people going off-grid to avoid their epic levels of incompetence. Even a monopoly can only be strained so far.

That whole situation was a joke. Do more research on the Duke-Progress merger to see how the Board kicked Johnson out two hours after the merger went through with no notice whatsoever and put Rogers back in as CEO. All ten Duke board members voted for the ouster, all five Progress board members voted against it, and the corruption stretches all the way back to when the merger was first announced last year. The utilities commission is pissed and more shiat continues to hit the fan as more investigating is done.
