You don't drive over a cop's foot. You just don't. I don't care if the ticket is bogus. It doesn't justify assault with a deadly weapon.

Parking tickets are for plebes. 1%-ers don't get out of bed for anything less than assaulting an officer and resisting arrest.

LOL

If you have enough money to drive a Ferrari around Manhattan, you can afford a $200 parking ticket.

Have fun in jail, buddy.

Even if the parking ticket is bogus, New York requires a front plate. Exotics aren't exempt. It's hard to tell, but it doesn't appear to have inspection stickers on the windshield, either.

Assuming it's registered in NY, of course.

I like how the cop purposely sticks his foot in the way of the wheel.

All he had to was tell the driver he couldn't leave until he gave him the citation. He already had is plate #.

What a crybaby.

I have a strong suspician that there's probably a diplomat tag on that car and nothing will happen to the driver as usual in those cases.

You should be able to have the ticket dropped if you can manage to get your car out of the space before it's finished being written, but the fine should be quadrupled if you run over the cop's foot on your way out.

That's actually the rule in some cities (like Berkeley). Depend on jurisdiction.

Why?

Your car was illegally parked. The speed of the policeman's handwriting doesn't play into that fact.

Well, other than getting ripped out of the car, faceplanted on the concrete, arrested in front of his GF, spending the next several hours in a cell, calling his lawyer and going through all the legal motions, yeah, nothing.

No, he moved in front of the car as he saw the man getting in, probably thinking the guy wasn't stupid enough to drive over a cop. The guy moved forward, hitting the cop, which was assault, but the cop just said, "Stop. Stop, you're going to drive over my foot." The guy kept pulling forward, though, and the cop yelled out, "You're driving over my farking foot! Stop. I told you not to pull forward. You want to be an asshole? Get out!"

Now, my transcription might not be 100% accurate, but it's close. The cop gave him plenty of warning and even brushed off the first assault, the schmuck with the Ferrari brought the rest on himself.

This is the unavoidable meeting of 2 assholes:
1) Rich guy who thinks he's above the law: Even if you were pretending to be oblivious to the ticket, why would you attempt to pull away when anyone is standing that close to your car? A simple "excuse me" would show the cop the feigned ignorance.
2) Asshole cop: Purposefully leans into the car after guy gets in. Puts himself at an awkward position in order to keep his foot near tire (very bad acting).Exaggerates the purported injury. Also, he must have been aware he was being filmed. Probably going for workman's compensation

I am so conflicted right now. On the one hand, it's the NYPD. I don't really think it is possible for me to have less respect for a police department. On the other hand, I pretty much hate anyone who drives a Ferrari that is not a 80's TV detective living in Hawaii. Damn, I am just going to hate them both so very much.

You gotta admire the decision-making skills of the dumbass driver. He can afford a new Ferrari, but is willing to gamble to get out of a $200 parking ticket. Makes you wonder how he got the money for the car (assuming it's his).

Now, on top of the parking ticket, he's got some bruises, he's probably spent a good part of that day in jail, his car has been scratched from the cop's belt, he's got some lovely attorney's fees to look forward to, possible lawsuit by the cop, and a day in court to plead this nonsense. And he's a Youtube star, not to mention a Fark green.

I saw the officer stay to the side, close to the wheel. And moved closer to put his foot under the wheel.

What you were hoping you would see, is the officer actually move to the front of the car. Which would prevent the driver from leaving.

As soon as the guy sits in the car, the cop moved in front of the angled part of the bumper, the tire didn't get to his foot until the driver pulled forward.

Bonkthat_Again: timujin: The guy kept pulling forward, though, and the cop yelled out,

That was what I wrote. The cop moved in front of the corner of the bumper, the car pulls forward and brushes the cop's knee, the cop says "Stop." (:19) The car moves forward again and the cop leans down and says something like, "You're going to drive over my foot." (:21) The car lurches forward another three or four inches and the cop again says, "Stop." He looks back at his clipboard and the car moves another inch, at which point the cop yells, "You runned* over my farking foot!"

*at least that's what it sounded like.

What's amusing is the "hot blonde" is Spencer Pratt's little sister.

Also, from another story I read about this, the ticket was for "no registration/inspection sticker" which in NY is a Fix-it Ticket, unless you act like a dick to the cop, and then the car can be towed. The driver is some rich idiot who started an Internet company -- can't remember which one, but it's one of the so-called "social media" sites.

Cop could have been less passive aggressive at the start. He stopped being passive about what he wanted from the driver as soon as the driver started pulling forward. I can imagine that the cop just wanted to finish writing the ticket without being interrupted, thus ignoring the driver at first, but it's situations like this that a little diplomacy goes a long way.

However, the driver deserved every bit of what followed.

Christ, he's an asshole, but I have to point out one small thing:

THE HOTEL VALET PARKED HIS CAR IN A NO PARKING ZONE.

That doesn't excuse what he did, but I'd be pretty pissed off too if I was picking up my car from a hotel and an asshole cop was writing me a ticket. The guy is an asshole, the cop is an asshole (well, obvious, they all are), and the hotel is just shiatty.

I'm gonna have to side with the cop on this one. Parking tickets suck but they are the law. The cop purposefully leaned into the car to prevent the asshole from driving away. The asshole purposefully drove forward anyway.

The right thing to do would have been to ask the cop to give you a break. The cop probably would have said no, but that's o reason to run him over.

If you don't like the parking laws in NYC, don't park there or get the laws changed.

My town is actually cool about parking tickets - you get one free pass every year. Yep, that's right. You park illegally, they write you a ticket but there is no fine unless you've done it more than once in the last 12 months.

Love watching everyone rush to judgement both in favor of the cop and in some cases in favor of the dbag. If a cop is writing you a ticket, you cannot drive off. Thats just common sense. Really nothing to argue there. But even more hilarious to me is, thats a 250k car. Are you so concerned about getting a ticket in it, that you will go to those lengths to avoid one?

In media accounts today, [Julien] Chabbott is described as an "Internet entrepreneur." A couple of years ago, he cofounded an app called Line Snob that was designed to help people find out about wait times to get into trendy clubs and night spots. The idea was catchy enough to get a 2010 profile inside Entrepreneur magazine.

But a check of Line Snob's website this morning is pretty revealing. It shows four messages in recent activity: two from July 20 from the same user about a Starbucks in California, one from January at a Florida Cheesecake Factory, and the last in December from a California Cheesecake Factory. When was the last time Starbucks or Cheesecake Factory were at all hip?

Chabbott can at least take comfort in a couple of things. First, that red Ferrari Spider is a nice ride. Second, his girlfriend is Stephanie Pratt from MTV's The Hills. And, third, his arrest has brought more attention and notoriety to Line Snob than anything in a long time.
