After only two years of painting, a 22-year-old local artist has been featured on television and is exhibiting his work at venues south of Boston. Is he A) autistic, B) blind, C) quadriplegic, or D) a horse?

If it hadn't been for that horse, I never would have spent that year in art school.

Looks like the horse is getting plenty of help in those pics. Does it also do math by stomping its hooves?

Yeah, I thought there was something wrong about this story.

And more important, can it dance?

mr ed painted, talked, captured cold war spies, danced, surfed, created a drink more popular then coke but it was decided people wouldn't by something made from carrots and strained through hay. he sold real estate, started a hippie commune, coached the la dodgers and hit home runs although it was decided he couldn't play according o the rules, flew a airplane, and saved christmas.

This is what happens when you let your horse watch television; they spend hours watching Bob Ross and immediately think that they can now paint "happy little trees". It is ridiculous.

Ok, now being reasonable I know art and beauty are in the eye of the beholder, but as far as I'm concerned random smudges that any pre-schooler could produce do not constitute art whether or not a human, horse, or any other animal does them.

The artist is strong on figures and action but his landscapes suffer terribly. Surely, Sherman my dear boy, you've heard the old saying "You can lead a horse to Watteau but you cannot make him Drake."

I was expecting to read an inspirational story about the blind, autistic, and quadriplegic horse.

God, I hate stupid shiat like this.

In my office, we have a painting done by a Ringling Bros. elephant because we did some work for the circus a few years back. It's every bit as stupid as this.

This isn't even amusing, like a water-skiing squirrel, or heartwarming, like a dog who lost his front legs and now gets around on a pair of wheels from a tricycle... This is "hey, watch this animal move its head a couple times and make a few aimless inadvertent stripes on a pre-painted background.

They don't even constitute art when a pre-schooler does them.

(Love, maybe. But not art)

I have a painting done by a sea lion that I purchased at the local aquarium. My family always enjoyed the sea lion show, and having the painting hanging in my house makes me happy, so I do believe you can suck it.

People, before we write off this horse and his creation as mere scribblings, we have to keep in mind the context and intention of the piece. In what context did the horse intend the piece to be viewed? And what were his intentions while creating it? One cannot judge modern equine art strictly on aesthetics.
