kroonermanblack: steamingpile: Trillian Astra: Most of the men I know are of the "I don't take pills for anything because I'm a man!" school of thought so I doubt most men would be able to comply with a daily maintenance medication, even if it meant being able to f*ck their girlfriend/spouse without condoms.

Exactly, now add in side affects and men will say no thanks.

What exactly is your vested interest in not having male birth control around? You are very aggresively pushing that dogma in this thread.

/hot like ...ah ... forget it

Can anyone tell me the origin of this pic (crazy eye college girl)? I've been seeing it pasted a bunch lately but haven't seen it explained.

I have nothing in this, I'm saying that most men would not want to tinker with a bodily function like that and would just get snipped first.

But I'm a super stud so it'll cost me $500 a month.

Yes I do listen to Rush, why do you ask?

RoyBatty: For anyone who has had a vasectomy, do women believe you? Do you still wear a condom? Because you insist on wearing a condom? Because she insists you wear a condom?

There are plenty of reasons other than pregnancy to wear a condom, especially if you're with a partner whom you'd have to convince you're telling the truth about a vasectomy...

Pregnancy is just the one that tends to ruin people's lives the fastest and most frequently.

The men who need to be on this the most, won't.

CSB: I was at the vet and there was this man with a dog. The lady at the counter asked him if he was going to get the dog fixed. First, the guy had no idea what that meant. Upon explanation of what it was, the guy was like "No way mang, my dog is keeping his huevos. It's what makes him a man mang."

These are the threads where Farkers post CSB's about women who announced they were pregnant but didn't know the guy had had the snip, and were uber-pissed when their plan backfired.

i had to ditch quite a few ultra hotties who were pretty clearly baby crazy because i dont really have much control over reproduction. If i had railed them i could be nothing but a child support payment by now.

Ah well RISUG (HowItWorks Link) has started going through clinical trials in the USA at the end of last year. It has had popularity around the world, but it still needs to be approved in the States.

Even with the pill a possibility, I'm still thinking I'll eventually go with RISUG if it proves to be safe.

That's the problem, how many times have you heard of a drug that ends up having issues years after being approved? I think most men would rather risk it rather than chance farking it up.

Also, where are the injections given? Anywhere near the ball sack and everyone taps out.

Testosterones risks and side effects are very well known. It works by tricking your body into believing you are producing too much of it, thus your body sends a signal to stop production; IE shutting off your testicles.

You can take the shot IM anywhere.

So you CAN get jabbed in the jimmy? You know, if you're into that.

Also, I'm with kroonermanblack, seen that popping up in threads, don't get it.

"The procedure is known by the clunky acronym RISUG (for reversible inhibition of sperm under guidance), but it is in fact quite elegant: The substance that Das injected was a nontoxic polymer that forms a coating on the inside of the vas. As sperm flow past, they are chemically incapacitated, rendering them unable to fertilize an egg."

100% effective. Reversible. Sperm can still escape your scrotum. Neat!

And, of course, it will probably be a decade before we can get it in the U. S.

Five dollars a month? That's what it will cost the drug companies. It will cost your insurance company $300 a month.

That was the one.

If I was the government, and knowing the cost to welfare of single teen mothers, many of whom got pregnant while still at school, I'd fund this drug, rather than let a drug company fund it and own it so it can charge a fortune, and make schools teach young males why they should use it and then supply it free.

It would save billions in welfare. Especially here in the UK when we just give single teen mothers a house and pay all their bills until the kid is 18, and by that time they'll be pregnant or have fathered a kid themselves and the cycle repeats.

Why yes, I am fairly right wing.

tankjr: steamingpile: PACMANCoW: steamingpile: machoprogrammer: FarkinHostile: Whatever. Male birth control has been around for a long time for those in the know:

Monthly injections of a testosterone-based contraceptive were 99% effective for preventing partner pregnancy in what researchers say is the largest trial ever of a hormone-based male birth control approach

From that article:

The search for a commercially viable male equivalent of the pill has been stalled in recent years, largely due to lack of interest by the pharmaceutical industry, says Elaine Lissner, who directs the Male Contraception Information Project.

Are they insane? Most men would be all over that.

I'm sorry I would rather wear a condom than risk damaging my baby makers, its a lot better than a kid.

And I think you're wrong that most men would be all over this, most men would be petrified they would fark up their plumbing down there.

Disagree. So long as the mechanics are still operational, don't care if the plumbing still works, if you catch my drift.

Girion47: The problem with vasectomies is doctors won't perform them if you're under 30 and childless. Which in my opinion is bullshiat, I don't want kids, I just want you to do the procedure, whats the farking issue? Sure it may be permanent, but so is a child.

you are so right. and there are millions of americans that should be getting vasectomies as soon as they can shoot semen. i've read about lots of guys who have 9 children by 6 different women, don't support a single one of them, and i know no one who is happy about this. the sooner the better, bring on the vasectomy squad. if you tossed each of those low-lifes $5,000.00 to get snipped we would save millions.

I can't accurately answer most of these because I got my vasectomy because I'm in a long-term committed relationship and we have each other's absolute trust. However, were I "on the market" having a vasectomy would not stop me from wearing a condom with someone I didn't know (via a test) didn't have a venereal disease. Once we were both sure, I'd want to drop the condom as quickly as she was comfortable.

Any man who needs to post such blatant macho overcompensation isn't.

Because if you had a remote shred of self confidence you wouldn't be quite so hyper masculine stereotype.

But, uh, ya, we all cower in front of your giant penis, dude. Whatever. Whoo.

Yeah I don't, that's my point.

The issue is 99% of men.won't get this shot to reduce testosterone, we have condoms that work so why kill all manly functions by stripping testosterone away?

Get over it, guys you hate get more pussy than you and are more manly.

The injection you're talking about isn't stripping away testosterone, it's giving a different sort of testosterone to trick your body into thinking it's making too much. Plus, if you'd read it, you'd have noticed where it says there isn't much of a market for it outside of Asia because it's less effective for white men.

The treatment from TFA is different. It isn't stripping away testosterone or even adding a different form of testosterone, it's inhibiting a protein. This isn't a hormonal birth control for men. It wouldn't do anything to a man's testosterone levels or sex drive. But a lot of men associate a pill with women and will have issues that are pure vanity regarding it.

I didn't read the article you're right, big saying a different kind of testosterone makes no sense since testosterone is the same and that does affect a males sex drive. Most men would associate taking that pill with being less of a man which is why no man would take it, personally I'm fine with pulling out. No big deal.

Uh, no.

Again, your stereotypical hyper masculine compensation has to be for something. Just because you're limp or just plain tiny doesn't mean we all base our entire self-concept on our dicks.

If we want to keep these sort of folks diluted in the gene pool, but not end up as bad sci fi, we have to convince them getting fixed is worth their while.

Plus, the kind of guy who has multiple simultaneous babymamas tends not to have the capacity to holds down a job, especially one with health benefits, or be functional enough to make the 2 or 3 appointments it takes to get a vasectomy.

I suggest that instead of compulsory sterilization, we simply provide same-day vasectomies on demand, and sweeten the pot by giving every man who receives them $1000 cash.

Because the kind of guy who is so disorganized or backwards that he can't figure out how to put on a condom after the first few babies doesn't care about his kids' future, but he'll be goddamned if he's gonna miss the Motley Crue reunion concert this weekend because he blew his last paycheck on lottery tickets.

The rest of us would save money in the long run.

If you are not worried about STDs there are always two other holes that cannot get pregnant. That said I have a feeling this sort of birth control, if it caught on, would cause a big jump in STDs as some people would think it stops everything bad or with the immediate threat of pregnancy removed why bother with condoms.

Your own post said it was stripping away testosterone, so tell me how many kinds of testosterone are in the male body?

Last time I checked it was one and the point remains if given to option for medicine that could cause adverse affects down the line, getting snipped, or using a condom then most men will choose the other two since one is just rubber and the snip can be reversed. There have been stories of medications causing issues years later that they didnt plan on so why risk it? Just get snipped and be done with it.

And Im firm and adequate in the penis department, just ask your mom
