Experts ponder over whether this current era should be called a 'mancession' or a 'momcession.' And these experts are University of Washington sociology grad students

fark, when I lost my job back in 2004, $175/month more for me as a man was chump change compared to the fact that I took a $12,000/year pay cut at the only job I could find in my field. It's fun being a decade behind on the ol' income pay scale!

Since it was caused by Bush's policies, and the GOP has blocked every effort to simulate the economy in any way, it should really be called the Republican Recovery: since their wealthy parasite friends benefit while the rest of us suffer.

At least Obama was able to halt the slide into the abyss started by Bush:

So back when the unemployment rate was under 5% and Republicans controlled the house, senate, and presidency, that was also a "Republican" thing too right?

Right?

I realize you're giving Americans the benefit of the doubt, but I should let you know that most Americans actually think that the global economy is controlled by their political party whenever it's improving, and controlled by someone else when it's declining.

/fortunately, unlike most of the Americas, the USA still has a few people who actually try to keep things working
//they are frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people, but they haven't been driven out... yet

Could it be that women going back into the workforce make less money because their interviews go something like this. . . .

now about your availability: well. . .9 to 5 but I will need to get off at 3 to pick up the kids at school and will need every other Wed afternoon off so Suzy can go to horseback riding lessons and every other Monday afternoon off so Cody can go to his Karate lessons. Oh, and I am in the PTA so the first Thursday of every month I have to leave at 2.

now about your salary: that which was quoted earlier is fine, but I will need an extra 500 per week to pay for horseback riding, karate, and after school care on the days I do not leave early.

And they end up trading that nice office job for lower paying work which can or will allow them the freedom to take the time off they need to do these things?

My husband and I both work full time and our son is in boy scouts and our daughter does gymnastics. Our kids go to school after care where they get a snack and help with homework everyday. I get off at 5 and he at 6. It costs 72 per week for them, but it is worth it to know they are safe. They do scouts and gymnastics on the same day. We ask them who they want to take them where, so mom does not always take Allie to gymnastics and dad does not always take Steven to scouts. It is not our employers' jobs to allow for our lives and chosen activities.

Yes, name calling is the sure way to win an intelligent debate.

I was retorting to a graph from an unknown source, using unknown data, that implied the job market has been improving under Obama. The graph I posted was from the Bureau of Labor Statistics - a US government agency - which shows unemployment went UP not DOWN, with only a slight improvement over the past year.

That you for reiterating my point. As your graph so convincingly proves: Bush's policies - still in effect in 2008 & most of 2009 - were devastating to the US economy, and things didn't start getting better until Obama was able to stop the Republican momentum & turn things around starting in 2010.

If a proper reading of recent history shows anything, it's the Republicans hate America and want to destroy it.

No, Obama's policies are not helping. His policies are making the recession worse and last longer. A future textbook on how to fix an economy will have a chapter dedicated to him called, "What Not To Do".

As for who caused it. A democrat congress, republican president, and a mortgage system designed to make gobs of money for "the right people". Those mortgage laws were put in place by Clinton and expanded upon by Bush 2. There is plenty of blame to go around. Pointing your finger at a specific party is showing remarkable ignorance and/or partisanship.
