well, since it's the pre-season, I'm not too riled up... but, if we have these same refs during the season... it'll be turrible. |

It seems to me that they are calling fewer penalties than the real refs. . I am okay with this. |

The calls aren't any worse. |

Plus, I don't have to see Ed Hochuli preening while blowing games with ridiculous calls |

bhcompy: Plus, I don't have to see Ed Hochuli preening while blowing games with ridiculous calls This comment is incomplete, because the forward throwing motion while not holding the ball psyched me out. /you cannot challenge this |

The replacement refs are, hands-down, the WORST performers of the pre-season so far. Incompetent is too kind a word. They need to pay the damn refs and get them back out there. If they try to play these morons in the regular season, there *will* be blood. Hell, Raiders fans shot somebody in the parking lot during the third quarter the other night....in pre-season. These fools give away a game on retarded non-calls and blown challenges, people will be missing limbs by week 3. |

They are worse, however the network TV announcers have not been calling out refs much for years, and are not really doing so now. I would love to see statistics on crews for all NFL referee crews--but the NFL does not allow it. |

FTA: The two non-financial issues holding this up: The NFL wants to make a group of officials, who work only part time for the NFL, work full time. But more than 90 percent of those officials already have full-time jobs and they are unwilling to leave them and the revenue they provide. The NFL wants to add three additional crews to give officials more rest and the league more officiating options, but the locked-out officials oppose this. In an ideal world, the NFL would like a bigger pool of officials to choose from, especially with some of the top officials aging. The league believes if it could bring in more officials now, it could groom more for the future. So the current refs want to stay PT so they can keep the money from their FT jobs, but they don't want the NFL to hire more refs so that the current ones could get more off days? I hope the refs get more money and everything, but they need to decide whether they want to be FT refs by themselves or PT with some help. Compromise, melon-farmers! |

It isn't about off days. The NFL is saying they want to add three more crews, and *reduce everyone else's pay to pay the new crews*. The existing refs are fine, and want no wage cut. They don't NEED 3 new crews, either. |

Whoa, the announcers have been pointing it out as often as possible that these guys are replacements in the games I've watched. Normally they don't, though. /I personally haven't been upset by any of the refs. Just some working the kinks out. |

What the fark was that in the San Diego game? A pick they blow dead, but then they give the ball to the Chargers for a hit to the head? This just makes no sense. |
||
| davidphogan
Even the announcers are calling it a clusterfark. |

You want to know what's great about the San Diego game? It's not on TV in SoCal until midnight. Thank you, NFL, for being total and complete cockfags. |

Announcers in Denver/Seattle whining about replacement refs after they correctly call a play where a ball was held forward and went out of bounds within inches of the first down, because Denver challenged it. And then replays show the refs were right. And yet they still whine. |

bhcompy: Thank you, NFL, for being total and complete cockfags. As if charging people to watch preseason games weren't enough, then they go and start offering a preseason package online...and charge for it. Always amusing to hear people complain about how they couldn't see the Olympics - I'm guessing they never tried to deal with the NFL. |

The SD/DAL game challenge just now should have been flagged as a delay of game, since all turnovers are challenged. These refs suck. |

Kind of like them making you buy tickets to preseason games and bad games to go to the popular games(like the Chargers do/did with Raider games) |

I don't know if the normal refs would have been better, I just know these scabs are terrible. |
