Do you make $30k a year? Move to Italy, you can own a yacht and a Maserati with that income, if tax records are to be believed

And they are just moving the yachts to another nearby country to avoid having the Italian tax inspectors go "A-HA! You own this yacht, yes? It is worth how much, based on the record of the sale? And you reported *how* much income for that year? Really? Here is your amended tax bill for that year, plus penalties and interest! Ciao!". Italian and Greek tax dodgers are the true professionals of tax avoidance. Rmoney should under-study some of them.

FTFA: "Clearly and definitely we at the moment are down with respect to other years," says marina director Pietro Capitani.

"We are at moment almost 40 percent less than last year. So, we are close to the [bang] for sure, for sure," he says.

Italian, motherfarker, do you speak it?

The bill came due and the scrubs didn't want to pay for everything they had eaten?

They should have stationed a frigate or two outside the port before launching the raid. Blow the farkers out of the water when they try to flea.

So.... You have a shell corporation own these things which then "leases" them to you at a reduced cost.

You could own those in America with an income of $30,000 as well if the damn government didn't confiscate all of your money to give it to lazy people. Vote Tea Party 2012!!

Subby doesn't read the Grassroots Motorsports forum.

The classifieds section has a $2012 limit (this year) and the sit is chock-full of enablers scouring Craigslist. There's probably two or three Maserati Biturbos posted per month, and they're usually $1000 or less.

And then there was this exchange:

"I have a fun idea. You and your friends each buy a Biturbo and have X amount of money to spend on the car plus repairs. Go on a long road trip, whoever manages to go the furthest wins."

"That doesn't sound like fun."

"It's more like laughing at someone than laughing with someone."

But when you move to Italy, make sure you keep your residence and business in Luxemburg, Lichtenstein or Monaco

yeah, there's a huge black (or gray) market there and a lot of people don't report earnings so they don't have to pay taxes. As with Greece, it's going to bite them in the culo at some point.

I went to respond saying how foolish this idea was...IE no roads, police, etc...then realized...wait a minute....

4/10 as I almost fell for it.

They just didn't bother to buy enough politicians to legally carve loop holes into their tax code, and went straight to doing whatever they wanted to when filling out their tax forms.

Here in the U.S. the super rich took the time to get their tax evading techniques written into the tax code first.

The black market was obvious and thriving on the filthy streets of the filthy city of Athens when I was there a couple of years ago. I imagine it's more thriving and more filthy given what's happened since.

My recommendation is spend only a couple days in Athens at the most and instead head north about 5 hours into Meteora (Kastraki & Kalambaka) and enjoy some of the best scenery in the world and a very relaxed setting.

If that is the most scientific way Italian tax authorities have to track down citizens who are not paying taxes......damn - not wonder they are 2 Trillion Euros in debt.

It's easy for italian's to make more money.

Just own a gas station and apartment building near a US base. Pay the US soldier 75-80% on his gas vouchers in euro's then redeem them with the US govt and then sell your gas for real. Poof you make a few extra euro's on each liter. Next, you charge american soldiers the maximum allowed in their housing allowance and make a deal where they both split the difference. You own 50 rooms, easy 5k+ a month extra.
