Barely an honorable mention for the rest of the crew? I'm much more impressed with the diver who grabbed the girl than the dork who's primary responsibility is to not put the heli in the water.

I think, if given the choice, he would rather just do his job and have everyone STFU about it. But the press over there go crazy if he so much as passes someone the salt, much less be involved in a rescue. They barely mention the crew and others involved in saving her, which is more to do with their obsession with royalty than any grandstanding on his part.

Agreed. The guy deserves credit, just as if he were any other search and rescue pilot. Belittling his actions is kind of insulting to people who do that kind of work. The hero tag is appropriate.

Also I think it's really commendable that he's chosen to do such "normal" work as serve in the RAF. The guy is genuinely trying to contribute to society for god's sake. Why the cynicism?
