He could have had the surgery on Memorial Day and the same would have been true.

I was going to say the All-Star break, but this is even better.

The Sox are going to limit him to 160 innings played in 2014.

I'd laugh, but my team had Brian "oops, I'm injured again" Roberts, so I can't really say anything.

Don't worry, Boston fans, there's only $102m left on his contract after this season.

Could have had the surgery last September as well.

/I'm sure he needs at least 2 seasons to recuperate.

Yeah it stinks for us Sox fans.. but hey.. we can only dominate in media coverage/wins/players/titles in all 4 sports for so long.. the run was good.
We still have the greatest QB ever.. and maybe they can do it this year. Bruins rebound.. maybe.. not feeling it without Timmy T. Celtics are old.. and the Heat/Lakers/Thunder/Bulls can all beat them without issue. At least we own in college hockey!

/puts on his Texas Rangers hat
what? I've always been a fan.. don't believe me? .. heh. *sheepish grin*

One of these teams is not like the others. One of these teams lost its All-Star point guard to an ACL injury and will be non-competitive throughout the 2012-13 season.

/while the top tier free agents avoid the team like the plague due to the missing ASPG

In non-basketball news, at least this has gotten one of the guys in my fantasy baseball league to stop offering me Carl Crawford in trades

He'd fit right in with half the Jays starting pitching out with TJ surgery this year.

Know how I know you don't know what you're talking about?

/CC... have the damn surgery and don't get hurt next year.

At least it's not Bud Selig Surgery.
That's where they have to pull his head out of his ass after every news conference.

The Red Sox should just forfeit the rest of the remaining games. Why waste everyone's time?

Spoken like a true Red Sox fan.

Also, it's not a waste of time to those of us who enjoy watching the Sox get their asses kicked.

Yeah except he didn't have the courtesy to wait for the season to end...

He made a cameo appearance this season. it was good to see him on the field for a few games before he had to leave again.

First time I've heard of a position player needing Tommy John surgery.

Can't be as bad as Dustin McGowan.

How is he better than Montana(Montana being one of the names that appears on the top of that list frequently)? What all time defining drives has he made and won with a TD pass? The only one of those he has on his resume is the Tuck Rule game, and that's not a game you want your QB to be known for.

/and not sayin' he won it with a TD, just that it's the only moment in history drive he's been apart of

I wouldn't argue that Brady is better than Montana, and I would tend to say the reverse is true, but not definitively--Montana played pre-cap and had Jerry Rice for 5+ seasons.

Peyton Manning deserves more credit than he gets. I used to have fun diminishing Peyton, but the Colts' fall after he got injured really hits home how instrumental he was in all those wins. Yes, the vast majority of those were regular-season wins but to do that for so many years requires an all-time great QB.
