Letter to the Editor: "Women should stay home, because it's too hard for us men competing with them for jobs, and also they're bad, lazy workers whose brains aren't cut out for an office place"

What would happen today if most married women remained in the home fulfilling their traditional family roles?

A lot more people would end up on medicaid and welfare because their family went from 2 incomes to 1.

I agree with the author.

It is a lot sexier when I come home to find my wife on her knees scrubbing my kitchen floor with a pie in the oven, rather than her coming home in a business suit telling me what groceries I need to pick up today.

She would likely be scrubbing the floor hoping you wouldn't notice that it was the plumber's semen she was cleaning up

One thing he has right: new moms would like to stay home with their babies. Usually. But they don't really care for being broke, so they often don't. (See Sweden for the solution.)

Eventually, the law of supply and demand kicked in, and the oversupply of labor forced wages for both genders to fall. As a consequence, it now requires both partners to be employed in order to make ends meet.

You forgot that more workers doesn't just mean more supply, it means more demand. More people working means more people buying things.

Otherwise a generally increasing population will always result in wage suppression.

And how did we manage unemployment rates as low as 4% at times with this "oversupply of labor"?

Also, the post-war years were a weird economic blip. Historically, women have always worked. Usually in the family store or workshop or inn, in the fields, or in service. Only the aristocratic few ever sat around eating bonbons (which, it should be pointed out, applies to men as well).

Then during the late 1960s, radical feminists encouraged young women to set aside their traditional family roles as homemakers, helpmates, child nurturers and husband civilizers for something trumpted as much more rewarding.

What the f*ck is a "helpmate?"

Or maybe it's because you vote for assholes who would eliminate the minimum wage if they could politically get away with it.

HelpMate, a mobile robot, is a Leader robot of a multi-mobile robot team called a Robot Convoy (see Figure 1), under DARPA Mobile Autonomous Robot Software (MARS) Project. The Helpmate mobile robot was donated by Yaskawa Electric of Japan.

And therein lay the problem with most American Conservatives. At *most* their idea of "traditional" goes back to the 1880s, but, really, it's more likely that they, for some reason, believe that the post-War era was actually how things always were and that Things Were Fine(tm) until that changed.

Pretty much THIS. Also this neglects the fact that there are millions more single-parent families then in the post-war era. So what are all those women supposed to do?

He also thinks women should allow their fathers to arrange marriages for them, public schools should be abolished, the Federal Reserve destroyed, and the demons that control the Jewish people need to be slaughtered by unconditional love.

In other words, he's nuttier than squirrel shiat.
