| doyner I'm sure Claire McCaskill wants the GOP to carry their little retard baby to term. I find it amusing that the GOP is starting to become worse than Democrats at being a well-organized political machine. Shouldn't they have some sort of political amniocentesis at their disposal? |

| mattharvest They want him on the ticket so republicans will show up to vote at all. If they think there is no R candidate, they might stay home, leaving that toss-up state to Obama. |

Exactly. I want to keep talking about him. I want to find pictures of him and Tim Ryan signing the "It's Not Rape if You Didn't Beat Her First" bill. |
||
| I_Am_Weasel If women really want to stop getting screwed by creepy men then don't know, they should just stop voting Republican. |

| BeatrixK MaudlinMutantMollusk: This is my surprised face /I'll have an even more surprised face if he wins the election Don't count us out: MO can be incredibly short-sighted. If you get out of the I-70 corridor, there is an astonishing lack of reason and logic. |

That is a fantastic headline. |

Well done Subbie! |

| what_now consider this: Talk about beating a dead horse. Awwww....it's so sad isn't it? You had a message to get out about how Joe Biden hurt your feelings, and you can't because the whole country is talking about what an abhorrent piece of shiat your party nominated for United States Senate. Clearly, you are the real victim here. |

following his "legitimate rape" flap. Akin's flap was legitimately raped? I hadn't heard that. /Headline is awesome. |

Prob a good move, I don't think women are even allowed to vote in Missora anyways... |

I'm sure he'll be getting plenty of phone calls today from his party colleagues encouraging him to "take some time off for family". |

Meh. If this was a legitimate problem, the GOP has ways to to try to shut that whole thing down. |

pacified: daily kos says he's out now? Missouri Republican Senate candidate Todd Akin's advisers are making preparations to withdraw from the race Tuesday, GOP operative Richard Grenell and RedState.com editor Erick Erickson report. Grenell cited "GOP sources" in his tweet announcing the withdrawal, which has yet to be confirmed by Akin. Akin has been under fire since saying women have biological defenses to fend off pregnancy after a "legitimate rape." |

He was asking for it. |

First of all, from what I understand from political scientists, withdrawing from a campaign because of a gotcha question is really rare. If it's a legitimate question, the body politic has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. Let's assume that maybe that didn't work, or something, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the gotcha journalist and not attacking the candidate. |

| sdd2000
Quitting before it is over, that is Palin gig, not his. |
||
| phritz
He can actually drop out up until sometime in late September. If he doesn't do it by tomorrow's deadline, though, he has to pay for the costs of reprinting all the ballots, and there are people who would be pretty happy to pick up the tab. Really doubt he'll be on the ballot in november, sadly. |

The GOP has announced that they will be spending zero dollars on his campaign. He'll be gone tomorrow. The first rule of being a tea party republican is" never let them know how crazy ignorant we really are". |
