Drew Rosenhaus offered cash to sign Dez Bryant before 2010 NFL draft. This is my shocked face

Just because a 20 year old kid who a week ago couldn't afford cab fare to the airport shows up to the draft in a $5000 suit, driving a brand new Lexus, people assume there's something nefarious going on!

At what point can we drop the charade of amateur athletics and stop exploiting these kids?

I wish everyone would stop calling 20 year olds "kids".

Receiving a huge, lump sum bonus can make your head swim. Priorities change in a flash. I like the idea of a forced budget for some of these guys. If not that then their agent should set up some kind of annuity for the athlete who is unable to constrain their spending. But then, agents like Rosenhaus are just looking out for themselves. Greedy f*cks.

I don't know. I know that at 20, I had the maturity of a 12-15 year old.

/then again, not much has changed in 20+ years

I'm 31 and on my GOOD days I probably have the maturity of a 16 year old. I'm hoping to start acting like an adult when I reach my mid 60's.

All that is true, I can't deny being the same way. I guess it just annoys me for some reason.

Karma is coming back to bite them. The agency is pretty much bankrupt at this point.

They can get an agent and endorsement deals after the final buzzer of their final game. The draft is months afterward. They can afford to show up to the draft in a $5000 suit. It's the $80,000 Lexus they drive around campus during the season that is bad news

Which agency? The Rosenhaus's? Doubtful, but if you have links I've got reading time.
