I only had to read NJ lady and I knew she was going to be stupid and annoying. Stop being outraged about stupid shiat ladies. |

Here in Texas the governor said that we should have a day of prayer and reflection for the victims of the hurricane. My family and I had already gotten together to pray and think of the victims earlier. I did not feel free. |

So which one of you Farkers wrote that? |

Or, you know, she and her kids could have celebrated the holiday on its regular date anyway. Holiday observances being the largely arbitrary choice they are. |

I had to go to work today. I did not feel free. |

10/29 hasn't been declared a national holiday. I did not feel free. |
||
| factoryconnection I understand that this could be construed as "inconvenient," but how little does this woman have going on in her life that a few-days delay in trick-or-treating would inspire existential outrage sufficient to write such a screed to the local news? Seriously! Also, how about setting your facebook profile to searchable, Ms. Suzanne Carson so that we can decide superficially if it would be worthwhile putting up with your sh*t. |

wha...wha..what the #*$! is this dribble? It's like something took a ridiculous story and made it more ridiculous. It was like frying a shiat sandwich in loose stool and serving it up as some "edgy" genre of journalism. It's an exponential fail... Ron Swanson 2014. |

NJ lady responds to postponed Halloween after Sandy "No, YOU look at the bukkets!" |
||
| gilgigamesh The full letter is linked in tfa: I will take my children with me on Tuesday to vote. And I know they will ask if the people I'm voting for had anything to do with Halloween. You can be sure that I will not vote for local individuals who did a poor job in taking my town and county into consideration. So she's a "Rescheduling Halloween Violates My Freedoms" single issue voter. Got to admit that is a new one. |

Mullica Hill. That says it all. There are parts of Jersey south of I-195 that might as well be western South Carolina. This twit is just upset that her tea party darling was seen being all lovey dovey like with that attractive and successful african american in the white house. She probably thinks Obama made him do it. |

There is a valid piece to her statement. Some areas were ready, some still are not. But it is a pretty minor thing for a local government to recommend a schedule. The valid piece is pretty lost in the hyperbole though. |

Maybe she's a fundementalist Wiccan and doesn't like the government meddling in her religious observances. |

| factoryconnection titwrench: I only had to read NJ lady and I knew she was going to be stupid and annoying. Stop being outraged about stupid shiat ladies. That's not necessarily fair; read the comments on the actual article here and you'll see a fairly unified chorus of boos for Ms. Carson and her poutrage. That would be New Jersey-ites (?) most likely saying what any rational group otherwise would. |

| factoryconnection cgraves67: Maybe she's a fundementalist Wiccan and doesn't like the government meddling in her religious observances. A funny counterpoint, yes. Far more consideration than her letter deserves, but that's why we call them silver linings. :-D |

| gilgigamesh Oliver Twisted: There is a valid piece to her statement. Some areas were ready, some still are not. But it is a pretty minor thing for a local government to recommend a schedule. Yes, because the only ones out in costume on Halloween were the jackbooted thugs patrolling NJ, just itching to kick in the bemasked head of any 8 year old who dared defy the proclamation of Overlord Christie. Or, you know. She could have just taken her kids out trick or treating whenever she wanted. One of those. |

Halloween is not a government-sponsored or -controlled event. It's a community collectively deciding to give out candy to kids on a certain day. You are completely free to take your kids door-to-door begging for candy on any day you want (Halloween or otherwise). There is no government-imposed penalty for doing so. So, in other words, it's your weak-minded bowing to government's entirely-imagined authority over your Halloween that's to blame, not some guy with a Mayor's sash. |

Oliver Twisted: The valid piece is pretty lost in the hyperbole though. Had they allowed individual counties to decide which date to observe Halloween, it most likely would have resulted in significant confusion because people are stupid. /a sheep that wants to be free can wander from the shepherd, but it should not be surprised when it runs into a wolf in the forest |

Who cares the fact that someone might step on a downed power line and die? My kids need candy, dammit! |

Well, once again I have learned that no matter how low a regard I hold my fellow humans, there is always one over-achiever willing to step up and prove that my opinion can go lower yet. I want to thank Al Gore for inventing the internet and providing me the opportunity to see just how farked we are as a species. The bad news is, she has been allowed to reproduce and now, thanls to the wonders of genetics, the world will have to deal with this tragic affront to common sense for years to come. /Every time you move Halloween to accommodate these so called victims, the terrorists/non-Christians/hippies/mino rities/everyone but you and me WINS!!!! |
||

Too funny (and sad that selfish people like her are around)... I'm eagerly waiting to see if Chris Christie responds back to her in his usual manner. |

Never before have I felt the presence of the government in my home as loudly as I did on Oct. 31. I found it very contradictory to the motto of our country. I did not feel free. So pushing Halloween back a few days makes you feel a stronger government presence than, say, when you file your taxes? |
||
| OnlyM3
Liberal douche bag.... not surprised. |
||
| fruitloop The kids went trick-or-treating. People passed out candy of their choosing. The kids had to accept what they were given. I did not feel free. |
||
| Dr Dreidel FTFA: "My children learned a lesson about government. They learned that there are people in power who have the ability to make decisions that directly affect them." Did they also learn that this power was delegated to their offices by Federal and State Constitutions, derived from the consent of the governed? No? Then you are a bad teacher. You deserve to have your kids grow up to be Paul Ryans, gleefully cutting your Medicare benefits so their top investors can see a .5% drop in their tax bill. |
