Halloween is not a government-sponsored or -controlled event. It's a community collectively deciding to give out candy to kids on a certain day. You are completely free to take your kids door-to-door begging for candy on any day you want (Halloween or otherwise). There is no government-imposed penalty for doing so.

So, in other words, it's your weak-minded bowing to government's entirely-imagined authority over your Halloween that's to blame, not some guy with a Mayor's sash.
