Maybe some of you uppity easterners might consider fixing the road flooding problems, but out here in the Northwest we just put up a 'Salmon Crossing' sign

Did they ever move the Deer Crossing signs to safer places for the deer to cross?

They do need to "fix" that river.

It's amusing to watch the fish, but no way is that kind of habitat destruction good for the run.

I live near several spawning channels.

My dog is afraid of the fish, though. He sloooooowly approaches the edge of the creek bank and then the fishes flop around and it spooks him.

He's a very good dog. He's just not very brave.

A story like that kind of demands a picture. But I guess we can't expect a reporter to leave the office for a story.

There's a guy in town here with a 'No Wake Zone' sign in his front yard. It's been there for years. He doesn't live anywhere near a river.

We had a Jack Russell that was freakin crazy. We'd go rent a cabin in MN and go fishing. He'd jump off the dock trying to get them as you reeled them in. Our other dog would run away.

That first one was in Oregon last spring (not too far away from me) but I'll let it pass.

You can't get away from the pictures up here. As the story says, it happens every year, and yet every year they put news crews out there. Save gas and just use the stock footage.... Don't get me started about the first significant snowfall in Snoqualmie Pass....

I used to live near the salmon hatchery in Issaquah. One year the creek flooded so bad that people were pulling salmon out of the undercarriages of their vehicles.

That clarified for me the reason for the first floor apartments being three feet off the ground.

With the amount it has been raining lately I'm surprised salmon aren't swimming straight up into the sky.

Yeah; you might have to commit seppuku; maybe even harakiri to atone for the shame.

I, however, came prepared.

Why did the salmon cross the street? Because he hatched on the other side.

I miss the semi-annual flooding/meager snowfall that would strand me atop my Eastside hill for days on end. Here in the great flatlands you're expected to show up at work no matter what.

Wasn't 1996 or so by any chance?

/friends lived on the creek, the phone calls back and forth were pretty hilarious!

Nope, was before I moved in. Though 2006/7 (I forget which) was a fun flood.
