| Smirky the Wonder Chimp Thanks, subby, but I'm more interested in videos of the numerous godawful animals and plants fighting desperately to murder you from the moment you climb out of your Kevlar-and-steel-reinforced bed in the morning. |

badLogic: Nice to see those Nazi's back down. And we have a Godwinner! This was never about Nazis. It was about one stupid communications minister. I've been saying for years this would never go ahead. Everyone knew it and only Stephen Conroy didn't accept it until now. |

It's good to see he finally came to his senses, although it was pretty clear a year ago it was dead in the water. How he thought it would pass, I don't know. |

The priorities here just baffle me - who cares about "people might see bad things on the Internet" with all those basements going on over there? |

Looks like Australia is going through the fight against some of the malignancies that crop up in liberal societies and is winning some battles, where the UK basically folded long ago. |

| KrispyKritter Australia is sweet. That government stood up against eBay and told them to stuff their "use our PayPal online bank or else" bullshiat right up their arse. Good on you, mates. I wish the dooshbags of WashDC had half the balls you farkers do down under. eBay / PayPal pisses me off. As do dooshbags in WashDC that don't stand up for the citizens of their country. Dickless politicians looking out for their wealthy powerful business owning friends, I'm not one. I like eBay really I just think forcing someone to use your personal Bank is not right. -stamps foot on ground in a huff- |

Subby, you are supposed to mix up Australia with Austria. You apparently never noticed that pattern, and the mod gave you the benefit of the doubt or greenlit before thinking. /pet peav |

Because I just LOVE the Sound of Music! Would hate to have it censored." Or maybe: "It's because they're next to Germany, isn't it?." Maybe someone else can be more clever than I. |

Honestly, this thing died in Parliament without any support long ago, the fact that People keep saying even two years later that 'Australia censored the Internet' really pisses me off. It's like saying 'the USA introduced SOPA, and now doesn't have a free Internet!!!' Very loudly, ignoring the fact that it never passed. |

ZAZ: Can Australians watch videos of flat-chested women, or is that still illegal? That's what I was wondering. For those who don't know - they started considering videos/pictures of women with A cups to be child porn. It doesn't matter if the actual woman was 80 years old. Small breasts = child porn. For the children or something... Yeah its completely retarded. |

The women with A-cup breasts was a proposal in the ban list for the censorship law. It was laughed out of parliment. |

| ZAZ captainreefer The A cup thing I'm talking about was not a formal law or proposal in parliament, but rather Australian censors' policy. Or public perception of Australian censors' policy. The government does not like to talk about details of its porn rating system and people felt free to speculate. It seems clear that a 25 year old with flat chest done up in pigtails and labeled as a "13 year old" could cause a video to be banned as child porn. What if they untie her hair and have her stop screaming "daddy!" so often? I never saw any followups that would clarify where the line is drawn. |

What if they untie her hair and have her stop screaming "daddy!" so often? I never saw any followups that would clarify where the line is drawn. The line is drawn if the actor/actress in question looks younger than 18, there are no specific guidelines for breast size. If a 28 year old looks like a 28 year old, it doesn't matter if she has small breasts and is dressed in a school uniform, it's allowed, as long as they're not actually saying she's 13 specifically. Meanwhile, the USA has similar laws, such as the PROTECT ACT,, which stop portrayals of people under 18 in sex acts, so it's not like Australia is comparatively overprotective. |

I literally haven't watched an AFL game in several seasons. Just too depressing. /More a cricket fan than AFL fan. Watching the Redbacks isn't much better than watching the Power, but I was at the Adelaide Oval when we won the ODD comp in February. That my stepson could watch the Redbacks win some silverware is one of my great parenting achievements. The lad will have to live to a fairly old age if he's ever going to see Halley's comet, but I fear he may have to live longer again to see the Redbacks get up again! |
