One additional smell that people will be enduring soon, if they aren't already, is the smell from food rotting in refrigerators.

One of the strangest phenomena following Katrina was the discovery that no matter what was in a refrigerator when the power went out, they all smelled EXACTLY the same when they started to rot. That smell permeated the whole city for about 2 months after The Thing. Then, for the next 2 or 3 months, you'd smell it again once every couple of days and it was exactly the same stank as before.

I grew up on Long Beach Island. It would have been paradise had its townships the ability to ban tourists and homeowners from Northern New Jersey and New York. Those are the folks that give Jersey a bad name. The Jersey shore guidos were from New York.

I never did hear the reason NJ has weird random stench spots. I was visiting a friend off post from Fort Dix several years ago, and even though it seemed all I was driving past on the way to and from her town were farms, I definitely smelled some kind of sewage-esque stench part of the way.

Also I live in NY dairy farm country, so there is no way I would confuse the two.
