As others have pointed out, the pro video gear would be very hard to sell.

One other thing I'm sure the thugs didn't consider is that pro video gear would be very difficult if not nearly impossible for someone to successfully use if they aren't a pro videographer.

As a TV news photographer, I'm really getting a reply out of this kick.

Seriously, having worked in D.C. / Bodymore, this seems like a crime against the media in general, or dumb gang-related robbery. People that want this gear in pristine (ha!) condition are more likely to shadow a camera crew and steal it out of the unattended vehicle. A confrontation increases the risk of a damaged rig. Plus: all the other goodies in the car. I have a $2000 wireless mic set, and it's mid-range. There's only so much rap video you can shoot before the $500 battery needs the $1500 charger.
