This is sweet. Not that i expect to live that long, but pretty sure if I did, that my hubby and i would still be in love and together.

As to arranged marriage question, perhaps the sets of parents were good friends, and saw how much the two liked each other and decided they might as well marry someone that made them happy. Not all arranged marriages were horrible I'm sure.

Imagine this..They were alive when China still had an Emperor, and they would remember it. And possibly still while the Empress Dowager Cixi was alive, depending on his birthday. They lived through multiple wars
and skirmishes, Invasion,Colonial Occupations, The Cultural Revolution, etc... And look at the technology
that has changed in their world even since their marriage..Not to mention since they were children.

In fact, Mao Zedong's first marriage was an arranged marriage to a girl (known only as Miss Luo), who was older than he was. Mao was 15, I think the girl was about 19 or so (DQMOT).

Mao refused to recognize that marriage, though, and it was never consummated.

They would have been born when China had an emperor, but they probably don't have any significant memories of it. If she is 103, she was (probably) born in 1909...the imperial government fell in 1911 and the ROC was established in 1912...she would have only been about 2-3 years old when that occurred. Also, Cixi died in 1908 almost at the same time as the Guangxu Emperor, so it is extremely unlikely that either of them were alive before Cixi died. Puyi (Xuantong?) was the Emperor when they were born.

Nevertheless, it would be incredible to sit down with them and hear their stories!

And when their time comes, they will probably go out together.

As it should be.

I don't think there is a picture of Miss Luo anywhere.

There were people who thought Mao was a little light in the loafers when he was in college...he and his friends would go camping and swimming naked.

He did marry a woman, though...Yang Kaihui and she was quite a looker. His second wife (after the KMT killed Yang), He Zizhen was nuts and she was sent to the USSR...his third wife, Jiang Qing, was a biatch, and butt-ugly without makeup.

Just the technology in Photography alone would fill an interesting book. Trying to look at the big picture blows my mind. Electricity may have been around but if you were a poor farmers son you didn't see anything of that sort till later in your life. Radio...TV..airplanes - holy shiat.
