One day in "class" the Drill Sergeant told us to take out a pen and paper so we could take notes. He noticed I didn't have a pen on me and he got a malicious smile on his face and ran into the DS's office. He came out with a 2x4 that had Bic Pen written on it in sharpie and told me I had to carry it around where ever I went from then on. I used it to bully people in my platoon like I was Hacksaw Jim Duggan. So it had its advantages.

To the Paratroopers and door kickers, tread-heads and Jar-heads, flyboys and squids and the POG motherfarkers in admin and shiat.

At a local assisted living place where my father died, they had an open buffet for any current soldier who stopped by, as well as cub and boy scouts helping out the veterans. Many current military stopped by to pay respects. I do not understand how some people denigrate those who serve.

For some reason I see a lot of people blame the actual military for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, like they have any power what-so-ever to choose who and where they fight.
