The not speaking ill of the military really only applies within a week of veterans day. |

Never speak ill of the military? They have this rule? This is the first I heard of it. Is it bigger than their "never speak ill of Apple" rule? |
||
| kumanoki Actual reporting of the facts? |
||
| sid2112
Because they risk their lives in service to our nation and deserve some respect despite the mistake? Maybe because they have access to the best weapons in the world and it's a good idea not to fark with them? |

Can't imagine why he would have an affair. /oh right |

Big Man On Campus: Never speak ill of the military? They have this rule? This is the first I heard of it. Is it bigger than their "never speak ill of Apple" rule? NOTHING is bigger than the Apple rule. I'm shocked to hear the term "smartphone" used instead of Iphone. |

I dunno what you're talking about subby. The media never speaks ill of the military. /Except on days of the week with a "d" in them. |
||
| id10ts Never speak ill of the military? Have you never seen a report by Jim Miklaszewski? The man lives to dis the pentagon and everyone who serves. |
||
| cgraves67
Don't speak ill of the military gets in the way of a good scandal? Really? Tailhook? Abu Graib? I don't remember the media shying away from those. |
||

The really disturbing thing about this is that you ran rise to the level of CIA Director without knowing how to recognize CRAZY EYES. |

Constantly (outside of FNC) referring to the missions that the military is sent on as futile, implying that soldiers, airmen, Marines, and sailors coming home after tours abroad in a combat zone with all their limbs, and no mental issues are the exception instead of the rule, playing up stories of the expense of military equipment out of context, running stories on military waste while entitlement waste stories go unreported or under reported = never speaking ill of the military Subby has a case for suing the elementary school they attended. Clearly the teachers engaged in malpractice. |

Article 134 of the UCMJ. Will it come into play? |
||
| Doom MD
The whole things smells of a screwjob. He was having an affair, so the FBI looked into it to see if there was a potential intel leak? Wouldnt you have to investigate every single person he talks to using such a criteria? Also, he had an affair, why does this require stepping down? Did Clinton? Kennedy? Numerous other politicians? Anyway, with the embassy hearing close it is quite hard to say this all looks above-board, even though I am the first to cast aspersions on the tinfoil hat crowd. |
||
| Doom MD
Clarification: why would an affair be more likely to be an intel leak than any other person he was talking to? Did the FBI even know if it was an affair to begin with? |

The Weekend Update joke, about "Paula Broadwell's book, 'All In', is being renamed 'Just The Tip'"*, that shiat was farkign brilliant. Seth Myers should have said the writer's name on air, whoever wrote that. *i'm butchering the joke, but it comes across (pardon the pun) |

| Dr Dreidel Whodat: Article 134 of the UCMJ. Will it come into play? General Betrayed-His-Wife is a civilian now. Does 134 apply to VA benefits? // really don't care about the scandal // is the next guy as qualified/geeky as Petraeus? THAT's the important question |

What has the military ever done, that they should be spoken I'll of? Aside from their inability to understand what an army can and can't do, I can only think of a few dozen things off the top of my head. That said the generals personal affairs should be just that personal. |

Ebbelwoi: Whodat: Article 134 of the UCMJ. Will it come into play? He's a civilian. but as a retired officer -- key phrase approaching -- "entitled to pay", on paper, he is subject to the UCMJ. That said, prosecutions of retired officers are exceedingly rare, period, and what's more, prosecutions for adultery virtually nonexistent. |

Glenn Greenwald--Guardian troll of all things American. Did you see this right up at the top? religious-like worship of the national security state. He write for a British newspaper about how much the U.S. sucks. That's pretty much his only requirement for a column. |

The deification of Petraeus was one of the more dangerous trends of the past few years. It's why Republicans so very badly wanted him to run for President. Didn't think he would, as he doesn't come across as the red meat bomb thrower they crave, but still, the idea of a man impossible to criticize running as their candidate made them salivate like Pavlov's dog. How would the eeeevil librul media deal with it? They imagined Chris Matthews' head literally exploding (to be fair, they imagine that 2-3 times a day). |

FTFH: 'What happens when the media's never speaking ill of the military runs smack dab into their love of sex scandals?' Nice FAIL at trolling, subby; I bet you're around 17 and think wearing a 'Joker' mask into a movie theater is just hilarious. |

| StaleCoffee Doom MD: Clarification: why would an affair be more likely to be an intel leak than any other person he was talking to? Did the FBI even know if it was an affair to begin with? Well, setting aside the whole thing where if you can lie and cheat on your own wife then you've pretty much flushed your credibility as an honorable and trustworthy individual down the toilet, one of the women he was cheating with illegally accessed his secure email to threaten another woman he was having an affair with. The FBI only found out about it because there was a security breach that farked up. |

fireclown: He put himself in a position where he could have been blackmailed. That there is the problem, not the sex itself. By that criteria, we should say any CIA director needs to be single and have no family. Affair or not, a gun to the CIA director's wife could be just as blackmail-able. |
