I think this applies to all straight males, not just alcoholics. As a guy, I don't really care too much about other people's emotions or underlying motivations. As someone who communicates directly and says what they mean, I want to be treated the same way. I don't have time for, what is in my view, nonsensical bullshiat.

Tell me what you mean and what you want directly; if you don't, then only you are to blame for any miscommunication.
