Good friend of mine went to a gun show here in Florida and sold crap loads of guns for outrageous prices. He said he couldn't stop laughing at the rubes.

These people never tire of getting fleeced.

I went to a gun show last weekend with the hopes of picking up some bulk ammunition, but nobody had any. What they did have was a boatload of way overpriced AR-15s.

Most of the people with booths are right-wing nutters, but they're clearly not against fleecing other nutters whose brains are soaked with paranoia.

It should be noted Obama is coming for YOUR guns.

Pretty much. And like you say, you can't find an SP1 for anything under $1000 unless it is a rusted hulk with a shattered and chipped grip. Which is weird considering you can go to your local Academy and buy a *new* .223, 16" barrel, redneck special for $800 or less (and people are buying them like crazy).

Went to a gun show a couple of weeks ago and picked up a 'correct' M1 in excellent condition from some guy walking around. All the parts match July 1943. Probably paid too much for it though. Need to replace the unmodified op rod with a 'new' one and take it to the range.

AKs have their pros. The best one being it still works when dirty and not properly maintained. Definitely a plus in a civil war where basic services and supply lines have broken down.

Only you can determine the handgun model and caliber that is best suited for you. Try to find a local gun range that offers a diverse selection of rental firearms.

I am pleased with my Springfield Armory XD .45ACP compact, but I do not begrudge anyone who chooses a different model.

I was dreading something like this happening. I was in my local gun shop the day after the election looking for some solvent. The Herp Derp patrol was in a frenzy. I wanted to get an AR15 for xmas but if the prices are insane forget it. This is why we cant have nice things. Btw, I saw the debates, I thought Obama and Romney both sort of dismissed the gun debate question. Has Obama actually said he'd reinstitute the AWB? That was a real piece of garbage legislation.

I remember I went to buy some rounds for the range shortly after the 2008 election, not even thinking anything about it, and walked into the place I usually purchase from to find the shelves more depleted that I've ever seen them. The guy behind the counter tells me that they've put everything they had in stock on the shelves and it would be a while before they got another shipment. It was only then that it struck me that the place had been emptied by the raving nutbags. I just had to shake my head and laugh.

Serious firearms enthusiasts know to have their purchases completed and delivered before the party conventions. Then hunker down until April of the following year.

The urge is strong to dip into my milsurp supply and sell at a 500% mark-up from November to January, but I can't be bothered, because I didn't plan for that.

I buy with a plan towards a year's worth of shooting when I buy my ammo. i have a long-range event in April. I bought my NM ammo last July, enough for nine months of practice and a couple days of shooting. You get a good discount at those volumes. Just check your inventory every six months and make sure you're good for another twelve.

Bought Ruger stock a couple years back (up 125%) wish I had bought it earlier than that.
