| People don't want a cell phone tower built in their neighborhood, even if it's disguised to look like a palm tree and surrounded by real palm trees. "It would be an eyesore" |

| AmbassadorBooze If they don't want it, then they have proven they don't want cell service. Give people what they want! Freedom from eyesores, freedom from cell phones! |

1) That doesn't look like a palm tree. 2) Palm trees are not native to Arizona. |
||
| Relatively Obscure I'd let them build one on my house. |
||
| Relatively Obscure Oh, wait. AT&T. Nevermind. |
||
| cloud_van_dame Cell towers in LA are frequently disguised as palm trees. Never knew that until I had a temp job for a cellular communications company. Disguise is pretty good if I never noticed them until I knew they were there. |
||
| violentsalvation So don't have cell phones, dummies. They put up a fake pine tree cell tower in my town. Just one, the rest look like cell towers. It is ridiculously huge and out of place. |

I mean- the damn things always have bright green fronds, and all other palms dont. ... |

What a great bunch of whining little b*tches. |

| xanadian Boy, I'd like to take NIMBY behind the shed and put a bullet in it. Some people are f*cking retarded. |

| Sybarite Happy Hours: 1) That doesn't look like a palm tree. 2) Palm trees are not native to Arizona. How about one of these jobs? |
||
| Gulper Eel Funny how the people who biatch loudest about cell phone towers ruining their view have no trouble with utility poles being everywhere. |

Same people that call and scream that they don't have coverage in their house and want you to fix it... |
||
| AverageAmericanGuy
Why can't people lease roof space to the cellular companies instead of having the companies erect these monstrosities? |
||
| Kaymon
I bet these are the same people that whine incessantly when they don't get screaming fast 5G on their 3 year old phones, too. |

Disguise is pretty good if I never noticed them until I knew they were there. In upstate NY, I've seen a few that are meant to be disguised as evergreens, but they'll be twice as tall as all the other trees around them. It's kind of hilarious. |
||
| grokca Allright my cell phone works! Now I can call and complain about that palm tree tower. |
||
| simusid
There's a tower about 3/4 mile from my house in a residential neighborhood. It's almost impossible to see. The land owner gets $1,800/month. I'd let them put one in my front yard for that. |

I don't understand why that would inspire so much FARK outrage. Who gives a shiat one way or another? You don't live there. |

Wait until everything here is like India. People will stop biatchin about cell towers and windmills. I won't be alive to see it, but it will come to pass. /unless Yosemite goes first. |

Hell, I would let them put one on my land. Get a nice fat check every month, plus better service! /my service sucks |

Yeah we have that going on downstate as well. And the "disguise" is just a few plastic pine branches haphazardly tacked to the side of the pole. I think it actually stands out more than a plain tower would. |

I don't get why people think cell towers are ugly. The weird ways they try to make them look like something else are all pretty terrible. /probably the same people that biatch about transmission lines that make it so we can't have a decent electrical grid |

Relatively Obscure: I'd let them build one on my house. I have a condo in a mid-rise building. Since we are the tallest building in the area, the cell phone companies have an array of antennae on the roof, painted the same color as the building and they blend in really well. Friends don't notice them until I point them out. And the building gets a hefty chunk of change in rent from the phone companies, which keeps our monthly HOA payments low. And I get farking WONDERFUL coverage! So I get a kick out of the NIMBY's... |

Like, the Urk family didn't want to see the community fire because it was an eyesore. Or that the spear that Grog carried offended them. |

Happy Hours: 1) That doesn't look like a palm tree. 2) Palm trees are not native to Arizona. I used to go to school off Baseline (UAT). Despite not being native, palm trees are all over the place. For being in a desert, Phoenix is surprisingly water wasteful. /there was a waterpark next door //walking barefoot at waterpark results in horrible foreman grill-esque foot burns ///golf course nearby |

Pants full of macaroni!!
![]() Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Years ago, evangelist Rex Humbard had this tower built as a monumental act of hubris (it was supposed to be much taller and have a revolving restaurant at the top, but that never happened). Affectionately known as "Rex's Erection", it has since met its destiny as, you guessed it, a cell phone tower. |

I need better cell service and I've some acreage to spare. Hmm...wonder if I could just call them up and offer it. |

So, stick a regular tower in there. fark EM. |

I think at the height required for cell phone towers, a big flag like that would probably get ripped apart by the wind, and it would interfere with the workers who would need to do repairs and maintenance up there. But I like where you're going with this. |

take petition forward to all cell phone providers people who have their names on the list get their service canceled, or are only ever allowed to use existing towers... no new towers will recognize their phones. |
