The quotes in the headline should have been around "takes place". She may have used the name of the town, but none of it was actually filmed in Forks. They still have tours and stuff, though, it's kind of funny to watch people go around saying "so, if they had actually lived in Forks, that's the high school they would have attended" and stuff like that.

They filmed it north of my tiny mountain town. All the buildings were sets that are now broken down. You can drive down the logging road to see the cut where the sets used to be. Some megafans come to see the site even though there is nothing there to see.

The only exposure I've had to Twilight was needing to walk through the Westin in downtown San Francisco while they were hosting a Twilight convention. I was walking through the lobby and thought they had thrown a thousand cats into blenders at once.

It turned our to be teenage girls screaming because one of the actors had entered the room, and it was then I realized that the cats would have been more pleasant sounding.

The last time I was there was before all that. I wonder how much it has changed.

Part of at least one movie was filmed in Portland as well that I know of because of 1) the casting call for it that I answered and 2) they painted over some traffic lights and people were annoyed after that caused some accidents.

I used to live around Twin Peaks, California where David Lynch used to live. That SOB owes a lot of people royalty checks.

The movie sucks, the town is mossy, but to the west is a GREAT hiking/camping area, all the way up to Ozette (which is also a great camping area). Seriously, spend a week or so along the coast in September and enjoy the beauty. And the driftwood forts/camps. Just watch out for those killer logs!
