This is the best of the headlines. This should go green. /not subby. |

Done by the headline. |

Why don't they look? Tell me Ralph, why don't they look? |
| wildsnowllama
So our treatment of veterans is on track. |

It's rare.....rare that I just sit there and marvel at a headline. I've been here since '02, and that's one of the best headlines I've ever read. Damn fine job, Subby. Here's an internet beer for ya: |

good one.... |

| GonadtheBarbarian
How the fark does something like this even happen? |
| factoryconnection So good that they beat that horn-blasting train so that the charity function would start on time as it absolutely must or else... People would have waited a few minutes. Seriously: what the actual f*ck was the driver thinking!?! |
| MurphyMurphy Terrible that people died. The article says the crossarms and warnings all worked. How does this happen? Barring some really odd circumstances (float got stuck), whoever was driving the vehicle towing the float needs to be charged with vehicular or negligent manslaughter. |
| factoryconnection GonadtheBarbarian: How the fark does something like this even happen? The driver of the second truck wasn't wearing a high-visibility jacket. /not obscure on Fark |
| Earpj Gads. I shudder to imagine the scene. |
| GonadtheBarbarian
Earpj: Gads. I shudder to imagine the scene. Well one thing is for sure...there were no brains splattered anywhere. |
| Popcorn Johnny Why didn't they just jump off the float and run out of the way? |
| Emposter
A preliminary investigation indicates the crossing gate and lights were working at the time, So the truck ignored the lights and bell and went through the lowered gate? Who does that? |
| Psylent1
They were probably Tebowing. Don't they listen to South Park, memes kill. |

GonadtheBarbarian: How the fark does something like this even happen? I'm just hoping that traffic didnt back up and the driver went over the tracks anyway, only to have to stop half way over, train-horn blaring and not a damn thing he can do about what's going to happen next. Somehow that'd be worse than him simply trying to beat the train over the crossing. |

Subby, please picture in this spot every animated applause gif in my image folder. You've earned them all. |
| Dow Jones and the Temple of Doom Oh long Johnson! |

Popcorn Johnny: Why didn't they just jump off the float and run out of the way? It was a float of disabled vets. Some of them were wheelchair bound/in their 90s. They probably literally couldn't jump, even as they watched the train get closer and closer... |
| puffy999 It's like traaaaaaaiiiiiin.... at a veteran's parade. |

Popcorn Johnny: Why didn't they just jump off the float and run out of the way? Sadly, not all veterans can walk easily. Or at all. |

Popcorn Johnny: Why didn't they just jump off the float and run out of the way? Yeah, you'd think a bunch of "wounded veterans" would move quicker. Morans. |
| nanim
That must've been one loud band if they could drown out the approach of a freakin' train |

INTERTRON: Popcorn Johnny: Why didn't they just jump off the float and run out of the way? Sadly, not all veterans can walk easily. Or at all. No wonder they lost Vietnam for us |

Somehow that'd be worse than him simply trying to beat the train over the crossing. I live near some train tracks that we cross every day. There's a traffic light at the intersection that is about 15' from the tracks. There are crossing arms, signs, and a traffic light on the other side of the tracks, and STILL, at least a couple of times a week, I see somebody approaching the red light go across the tracks instead of waiting behind them when the light turns red. There is room for one car between the tracks and the intersection, yet there is always somebody that thinks two can squeeze in, and there they sit, with the ass end of their vehicle fouling the track. I hope to never see the crossing arms come down, but then again want to see WTF the driver will try to do if and when they do. |

Those veterans survived getting shot at by the Vietcong in Korea and surviving the German bombing of Pearl Harbor just to be taken out by a train? So sad. |

East-bound and down, loaded up and truckin', We're gonna do what they say can't be done... |
| Gyrfalcon Emposter: A preliminary investigation indicates the crossing gate and lights were working at the time, So the truck ignored the lights and bell and went through the lowered gate? Who does that? Yeah, and there's this: he didn't know if the train crew saw the float approaching. WTF?? Shouldn't it have been the FLOAT DRIVER who was looking for the TRAIN approaching? I mean, which one can stop a little easier, you know? |

The parade was to end at a "Hunt for Heroes" banquet honoring the veterans. Looks like the train driver bagged four early, that's all. |
| gingerjet
And yet we will don't have a Texas tag. |
| Prey4reign
They saved on four meals at the dinner later. So, who's upset? |

wildsnowllama: So our treatment of veterans is on track. I admit I laughed /Window seat please. //Is there a veterans discount ? |
| 2xhelix Hmm, Midland, TX... Was she the engineer driving the train? |
| Perducci
What kind of training? Miiiiilitary training, sir! |
| Fano If someone takes a spill it's me and not you. |
| clear_prop Even if there was a vehicle in front of the truck preventing it from clearing the tracks, when the bells and crossing arms activate, PUSH IT OUT OF THE WAY! This sounds like that bus accident in Illinois awhile back. A little bit of property damage is much better than a lot dead. |

I know people who have been to this event. The vast majority of veterans that are being honored are young kids from Iraq and Afghanistan missing limbs or with severe burns. I feel horrible for the families affected by this and all of y'all making fun of the situation should feel terrible about it. I know welcome to fark... But fark all of you |
| FuturePastNow
Ouch. That train crew is going to need some serious therapy. |
| trappedspirit
Headline gets a meh. This train wreck gets a WTF?!?! How in the fark do you get hit by a train by surprise? Planned parade route goes across RR tracks. How high up the chain of dipshiat derp dwellers can we lay blame. ALL THE WAY TO THE PRESIDENT! |
| puffy999 laterthanyou: The vast majority of veterans that are being honored are young kids from Iraq and Afghanistan missing limbs or with severe burns. Just as I suspected... there will be less cleanup necessary. |
