I would have said sure. It's a closure thing. There's an argument you'll hear about addiction and perpetuation and such, but let's face it: psychological factors are huge. The guy is asking for one more smoke, and in his mind he's got a sudden ambiguous end he didn't expect; giving it to him lets his brain register, with intent, that this is the end cap, the closing, the beginning of a new mode of operation. Sure there will be lust and desire, he'll want more; but there will be a sense of finality, an understanding of the current state.

It makes things easier for the mind to handle. Like how couples have a peaceful break-up, but there's all this weirdness and stress and erratic behavior ... then they have sex, ONCE, some months down the line after the break-up, and that's the last time they EVER have sex but suddenly everything is fine and they're back to being non-awkward friends again.

Kid, move to Colorado of Washington. At least the voters in those states understand that pot isn't so bad. In fact, that it's illegal and alcohol isn't based on the "dangers" of the drug in question, is beyond stupid. And I believe that the "dangers" of pot are not the reason it's been outlawed, and remains so. That's just what they want us to believe.

So at least 2 court appearances and time in jail. What a waste of time and money. If all he did to get himself in the position was working with or possessing MJ he shouldn't be in court at all.

The jail time, record and court fees and fines will do more to ruin his life than weed could ever hope to accomplish.

Over a period of months or maybe years you can slowly wean the afflicted to a point where one can take that cold-turkey plunge and finally rid themselves of the demon-weed influence. Odds are that the person will never be a contributing member of society, but we should at least give a chance and, really, it's the humane thing to do.

If you end up in court, your job is to dance and sing or whatever they want you to do (and do them to a T) so you get away from court supervision.

I used to be a regular pot smoker and then gave it up one day without a bat of an eye, I cant stop smoking cigarettes after trying several times using methods and medication. An old friend of mine cannot give up the weed but never had an issue quitting cigarettes.

Move to Denver...it's legal here.

I'll out myself as an addict here but what the hell...i was a crack addict for 5 years. what saved my life was my mom and moving far far away. anyway the night before i was to board a plane to far far away, i partied my ass off. my last try at scoring had to be done on the street and i got burned. got home with my rock to discover it wasn't. anyway 2 years went by and somehow i ended up being around people smoking crack and i always always felt like i deserved one more time getting high because i got ripped off the last time i tried to score and that thought still stuck with me...so i took a hit. it didn't make me return to my crackhead days and in fact i can say it gave me the closure i needed. i know I'll never smoke that crap ever again now.

Obviously this can't be one of those cases where they bumped up "caught with joint" to "trafficking" because they had it on good authority that this guy shared a joint with a friend in exchange for pizza and beer. Because judges let *trafficking* sentences slide *all the time* on a Scout's Honor pledge to give up pot. And absent a slap on the wrist deal, those same judges often have to think long and hard about how to sentence a convicted drug trafficker.

Anything can be addictive, dumbass. From the caffeine you had this morning (actual physical addiction), to the internets you are currently derping over, to the stroking activity youll be doing alone later.

Cannabis has absolutely no potential for physical addiction, and only week minded people actually have problems stopping. Cannabis, like alcohol, even video games, allows less intelligent people to trundle on in their lives oblivious to their shortcomings, as long as they have escaped into their stoned/drunk/stimulated little world. A pothead/drunk will go on working at a minimum wage job, driving a shiatty car, dating a fat tramp, no desire to move up, as long as they are sufficiently "escaped." It has absolutely nothing to do with cannabis, it has to do with the individuals drive to escape.

If cannabis didnt exist, these people would find another way to escape. They would drink alcohol, or use real drugs, or hide out and play Call of Duty all day. It really is that simple.
