Remember Jenna Bush? Yeah, turns out she grew up to be a Rastafarian, guess she'll move to Colorado now

I don't know about Rastafarian, but she is the worst reporter I've ever seen.

/and that includes those small market TV stations in south Okla/north Texas.

Uhh, subby.....Jenna said her mother was the secret Rastafarian, not her. Reading the article usually helps.

FTFA: Hager also divulged the tidbit that her mother, a fan of reggae superstar Bob Marley, is a "secret Rastafarian."

"When asked what was the biggest misconception about her husband, former President George W. Bush, during his time in office, Laura Bush said, "That he was a heedless cowboy character.""

Had George Bush done more to the economy when it was in a recession, he would have won re-election. After the success of the first Gulf War, his approval rating was crazy. From Wiki:

"Bush was inaugurated on January 20, 1989, succeeding Ronald Reagan. He entered office at a period of change in the world; the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of Soviet Union came early in his presidency.[2] He ordered military operations in Panama and the Persian Gulf[2] and, at one point, was recorded as having a record-high approval rating of 89 percent.[46] However, economic recession and breaking his "no new taxes" pledge caused a sharp decline in his approval rating, and Bush was defeated in the 1992 election.[2]"

I think you have your Bushes as mixed up as this article does. George H.W. Bush (Senior) was the president right after Reagan, and not a complete idiot. His son George Dubya (Junior) Bush was the "heedless cowboy character" who was a complete idiot. And it wouldn't surprise me if he and the missus were secret potheads.

I keep telling all of you, the only thing separating liberals and conservatives is a few points, taxation and rational environmentalism.

Most consevatives are fiscally conservative and socially liberal, they want sound public plans not just throwing money at problems hoping it solves the issue. Now we just need to cut loose the religious right and the left needs to cut loose their crack pots, then we may get shiat fixed.

Wiki is wrong on this, the only reason bush lost the election is because of Perot, you don't take close to 20% of the vote and have zero effect. Congrats Perot hope you're happy, Clinton got to take credit for bush opening up the net to more commerce and riding a wave of money to cover up how bad he was as president.

I had the awesome opportunity to meet Barbara Bush several times, the last many years ago under the annual resteraunt show at McCormick place when her limo was waiting for traffic to clear and she rolled down the window on her limo to say "hi" and converse while stuck for a few minutes. Just an incredible lady.
Of all the stories I have ever heard about her, never has a negative word been spoken.

They aren't, neither are the religious nut bags running shiat when Repubs are in office, they just need to be shown how small their opinion is to most of us.

I said before the election, they need to tone down the religious angle, forget changing abortion, and let any humans marry or they will lose. A few relatives said I was carazy, obamer has shown how stupid he is! The right needs to loosen their religious grip, and let people just be free, its never another mans place to judge another person anyway.....

Yeah, I got the Bushes mixed up. But looking back I can't believe how badly I wanted HW Bush out of office and Clinton in, even after the Gennifer Flowers scandal. But Bush Sr was a good President, especially in comparison to his son. Although neither father or son seemed to have issues with the economy.

My belief is Perot was a symptom of Bush Sr farking shiat up. You think if he did enough to lesson the effect of the recession he wouldn't have been so unpopular as to have Perot decide to run? Says a lot about Bush when he loses his Presidency to a philanderer, and that a third party candidate could even take close to 20% of the popular vote. I wonder if Ron Paul had run as a third party, how much of the vote would he have got.

jaytkay: Very few people had Internet access in 1992. Probably less than 1% of the population.

The porn industry drove most of the innovation back then. Even basic stuff like form input aside from a single field that let you hit "Enter" was from porn. And it was really, really hard to do any commerce online. Ball-bustingly hard. Once SSL was in play, things moved fast.

CSB: I was setting up a client with an ecommerce site in 1995, and back then there were no payment processors you could use programmatically (that weren't obscenely expensive, anyway). So we had to jump through hoops like you would not believe to allow the client's merchant account at their bank to be used for online transactions. Wound up giving an entire presentation on what the Internet was. Actually got a job offer from the bank folks later on down the road, but I had moved on.

But yeah, it was hard making web sites when most people didn't even know what the WWW was. (Truth be told, I'd have made more money getting kickbacks from the one ISP in our city that did PPP. We sent them a shiatload of business.)
