Maybe for you 1% types saving almost $9000 seems low. I probably don't even spend that much on myself- excluding cost of living, of course-- so I'm not sure how my savings are going to exceed that.
But yes, I do find some pretty good deals on hotels, local restaurants, events, etc now and then.

I can't imagine how amazon prime is worth a golden damn, but I have received over $4,000 worth of stuff free via amazon vine (got a couple of big ticket items). I don't know why they do it, I'm sure some day it will stop, but meanwhile I am not exactly complaining.

/ on balance, in fairness, i do take time out of my day to honestly and thoroughly review the amazon vine products I get. It's the least I can do given the program's generosity.
