Bilgewater: Legalize drugs and they will be safer. Right now people are getting the modern equivalent of bathtub gin.
cyanne: Wow, this brings back bad memories. I was the oldest kid in my family by 6 years so I got the joy of being my parents' first teenager. After reading stupid shiat articles like this one they decided I MUST be doing drugs. I ended up getting dragged to a non-voluntary treatment facility for a week-long 'evaluation' period.Basically they keep you there for a week, wearing hospital gowns and robes, treat you like half hospital mental ward patient and half prisoner, and try to find evidence that you have a drug or alcohol problem. If they do, you get to be locked up for an additional 30 days of treatment. Sad thing was that I was 13 and had never even seen marijuana in real life before. I had tried a little alcohol, but nothing major by that point (unless sneaking a wine cooler counts as major). It is a really weird and uncomfortable place to be if you HAVEN'T used drugs. You are surrounded by people with actual drug addictions who have done serious shiat. All day, every day, you get asked questions by the staff like, "When was the first time you smoked a joint?" and if your answer is, "I haven't ever smoked weed," they tell you to "get honest" and that you won't get better unless you tell the truth. They operate on the idea that your parents would never have brought you there if you didn't have a problem so it really sucks if you are telling the truth because nobody believes you.The best part was the intervention. They bring in your family, some friends, a counselor, and a few of your fellow inmates to talk about why they think you have a problem and you can't say anything. Had to listen to my parents describing how they knew I was using drugs because I had become moody, reclusive, stubborn, and would sometimes act very happy and other times be quiet and withdrawn (hello, teenage hormones!).At the end of the week, after being terrified the whole time that I was going to be told that they wanted to keep me for another month, they finally released me. ...
Prey4reign: I caught my kid holding a bunch of drugs so I sat him down to talk some sense with him. I told the apple of my eyes if he ever tried to hold out me, I'd kill his worthless ass. What's the good in raising a teenager if he won't share his dealer with you?
