I bet when subby studied A Modest Proposal in High School, that he came out of the class raving against those inhuman monsters who wanted the Irish to eat babies. |
||
| serial_crusher Hmm, so whether he sues the ghosts or breaks/enters, kidnaps, slanders, and inflicts mental distress, one thing is clear: Scrooge hasn't learned his lesson. I guess if I had to pick one, the suing would be preferable, but the latter probably makes for a better screenplay. |

Red Shirt Blues This was done years ago. |

| jaylectricity As a satire, this would be fun. |

Not even. But the Black Adder Christmas Carol parody....now there's a great take on a classic.. |

Is it a comedy? People already rewrote the bible because it wasn't conservative enough. This is bush league. |

They already hit rock bottom with Jack Palance in "Ebenezer." I spent a night so drunk I couldn't move or find the remote being tortured by that flick. "Bad" doesn't begin to describe it. |

Was it written by the same sort of person who thinks that Scrooge was only disliked for his money and not for the fact that he was also a colossal douchebag to everybody? |

ristst: Not even. But the Black Adder Christmas Carol parody....now there's a great take on a classic.. That is a classic! And if not it should be. The biggest mistake they ever made was the sequel to a Christmas Story. Ive seen it on the shelves around here. |

groppet: The biggest mistake they ever made was the sequel to a Christmas Story. As I recall, they stuffed a second-tier Culkin into it, the plot primarily revolved around the Bumpasses, and it sucked horribly. |

For a second I thought the link was from the Onion /meh, the play could be half interesting |

Let me guess. This is being done by a conservative group, isn't it? Reminds me of an old J. Wesley Smith cartoon where a Gilded Age Robber Baron is telling another about the book he's reading. "It's new story by that Dickens fellow, about a worthy businessman named Scrooge who goes soft." |

BronyMedic: I bet when subby studied A Modest Proposal in High School, that he came out of the class raving against those inhuman monsters who wanted the Irish to eat babies. One of the great things about satire is that it entertains twice. The initial satire, and then the reaction to it. |

And oh geez, don't forget one of the WORST casting decisions in history, Charles Grodin as the Old Man. He's great in Heaven Can Wait, but he can't get one little toe into Darren McGavin's shoes. Them's some big shoes to fill. "Sons-a-biatchin' Bumpasess...!" |

I think Chrales Grodin played the old man in "It runs in the family" looks like Daniel Stern plays him in this one. There is no God!! Ive got pumpkin liqour left anyone need a shot? |

Does "this one" refer to yet another A Christmas Story sequel? |

| serial_crusher groppet: Sorry I runied christmas for you. Ill send you a hot cocca sampler. Maybe a Red Rider BB Gun, so I can shoot my eyes out and not have to watch these? (soap poisoning also an option, though less desirable). Here's my question: Is A Christmas Story 2 a direct sequel to the first one, or does it take place after It Runs In The Family/My Summer Story? I want to make sure I watch them in canon order, but I've only been able to find a copy of ACS2 thus far. |

Could someone please stop the people who think they're clever by taking a story and adding lawsuits? It hasn't been clever at all since at least the `80s. If you're going to go to the trouble of putting on a play, make sure you don't lift your premise from one of the bits you wait through on Prairie Home Companion in between musical numbers. |
