To be fair, you can't blame all problems on the airport. Atlanta is a Delta hub. Doesn't matter what the airport does you are going to get crappy service, delayed flights, and lost luggage.

Now, with pictures

The whole article is pretty pathetic. It's just stats. Nobody cares about stats. And it shows Denver at 80% on time but also shows pretty well in the "amenities" department. So to me, if you're gonna get delayed, at least get delayed in a nice airport.

I'd agree that JFK is less bad than LaGuardia. I've only flown out of Newark once and that was on a 7am flight, so that probably doesn't tell me much.

I've flown out of Hopkins several times. Pretty good airport.

I had a 9 hour layover in Newark coming from overseas. Most boring day of my life.

Sorry but this list fails ...

Miami should be either #2 or 3 behind Philadelphia and Hartsfield in Atlanta.

FLL is a better experience than BWI, but not the worst.

I live in San Diego. The last time I flew anywhere I based my choice of airline on what terminal they used, because terminal two has been farked for a year now.

Not surprising all the NYC-area airports are high on the list. I always try to fly out of White Plains if there's a flight available.

I flew out of Tampa international and minneapolis / st paul airport and both were simply fantastic.

Tampa has by far the nicest airport I've been too in a long time, the shuttles are a plus.

I am surprised that Phoenix Sky Harbor isn't listed, and that Sacramento is. Luggage service was my only issue at SAC, everything is an issue at PHX.

The only two I haven't been to on the list are Newark and LaGuardia. Thankfully.

Dulles at #5??? Seriously?? I farking love Dulles. But then again I'm an L.A. native so I'm easily impressed by airports that are not LAX.

Worst international airport is Heathrow.

As much as I dislike living in AZ (mainly because of the political climate here), one thing I love is the Tucson Airport. First of all, I only live about 10 minutes away from it. Secondly, I can show up an hour before my flight and still have time to spare. Also, economy parking is $3 per day. The weather here is good, so you rarely have delays getting in or out.

Contrasted with Philly (the airport to which I fly the most since it's near my hometown), which is such a steaming pile of crap. The TSA agents there are the most unpleasant I've ever encountered. The flights rarely leave on time. Parking is a freaking nightmare. I miss a lot of things about Philly. The airport isn't one of them. I'm surprised it wasn't first on the list.

No kidding. I think several of these airports are pretty good: DIA, Regan, McCarran, etc. The on-time stats have more to do with the major carriers at the airport than the airport itself.

Eh, I'm usually pretty impressed by how fast they get people through security in Atlanta. Not through particularly skillful TSA agents, they solve the problem with brute force: 12-15 simultaneous lines. Plus the airport's layout is brutally simple and efficient, unlike the maze in that shiathole Miami airport.

In the USA, Miami is probably the worst of the major airports. In the developed world? Frankfurt. Frankfurt is, I'm sure, an experiment by aliens to see how much bullshiat we'll put up with from Germans.

Also, SFO is pretty righteous, I question this list.

I'll never again fly through San Francisco International. Did it 10 years ago going from Seattle to Santa Barbera, missed my connection due to fog, and spent 8 hours waiting for a new flight.

Did it again over the weekend. Seattle to Austin on United Airlines, flying with my wife and two kids under 10. Missed my connection because of a two hour delay in Seattle because of something going on in San Francisco. (Listening in on the ATC frequency, as we pulled back late from the gate, the controllers called our pilots and were told there was a company delay now, and we waited another hour). We missed our flight, and didn't make standby on the flight 8 hours later. The airline refused to put us up in a hotel. We only made it to Austin 24 hours after we left.

Funny part is, when we went to get our bags (they only agreed to pull them because i'd idiotically packed my insulin) we were told it could take up to three hours to get them. When I told the baggage guy that wasn't acceptable, he got huffy with me and said, "Well, isn't the airline paying for your hotel?" I had to walk away before I slugged him.

/not a violent guy
//felt like committing murder after 10 hours at SFO.

Detroit is also a Delta hub, and it's pretty decent.

/Just make sure to always fly in and out of the same terminal, because it's faster to just hire a taxi to the next terminal than wait for the shuttle to get back to your car.

30 minutes is the maximum wait time at PHL? Who the fark are they kidding - I've never gotten through security there in less than 30 minutes. Early flights can see up to 2 hours. This airport, and the entire city, are nasty smelly pieces of shiat. The kind of nasty shiat that's been bottled in seawater and left to fester in the sun for a few weeks, maybe with a raw egg tossed in on top. Horrific.

Worst airports I've been in - obviously anecdotal - are Las Vegas and Charlotte.

LV's security lines are unbearable. Not only are the vacationers often totally retarded, the security staff is disorganized and occasionally imperious. More than usual.

Charlotte just sucks. I haven't flown down that way without stupid layovers or traffic problems. I've missed flights because they couldn't dock our plane within forty-five minutes. Some of it was weather related, most of it wasn't. Airport itself is not bad.

Haven't flown through Houston enough to know one way or another. Atlanta is just way too big not to occasionally suck. Austin is pretty great, but it's a small city. O'Hare is like Atlanta - it's just really freaking big, alright?

The New York area airports are aging and need to be upgraded/made bigger. But I've never had huge problems here.

All of these are still better than Paris/Charles de Gaulle. Ugh.

I've gone to ATL for work once a year for the past 3 years (including last week), and I'm always impressed with how it's set up. It could be faster and less maze-y, but I like how everything's centralized.

Any large airport is going to be a better experience that my hometown right now. Because of North Dakota's oil boom, our airport, which was built to handle 150,000 passengers per year, handled over 350,000 last year. Parking is nonexistent. The people that check you in for your flight are the same people that load your baggage on to the aircraft, unload the other aircraft coming in, and handle the aircraft on the apron. There are three gates which were completely wasted a year ago on the one airline that serviced the area, and now can't support the multiple flights from the 4 airlines that are here now. Add to all that the fact the on every flight I've taken in the last few months I've been stuck behind or beside some rig-rat that smelled of booze and the worst BO known to human kind, and I long for the days of just dealing with fatties and screaming babies. I flew in from MSP last week on Tuesday night, and from the time our plane landed on the runway to when I got my bags was 30 minutes longer than my hour and 15 minute flight from Minneapolis. LAX that morning was a dream compared to Minot International.

I travel more than most of you. 100k miles on delta this year, probably another 25 on other airlines.

Atlanta is actually pretty good if you're on Delta. Even if you're not, they have good food, and even though it is HUGE it is much simpler than some of the other big airports (LAX, O'Hare, Dulles, Newark, JFK and LaGuardia) to navigate and change planes. You either go through domestic security or international, and from T1 to F 16 is about 10 minutes... Try doing that in Dallas.

Charlotte has to be one of the worst, and it isn't on this list.

Heathrow is pretty bad. You often have to take buses between terminals for connections. Buses. And the terminals aren't particularly close together. And you have to go through security again because you've left your former terminal. And nothing's terribly well marked.

There's a reason, like, six other airports have popped up around London - Heathrow is so bad.

But I understand these are absolutely no comparison to some of the scary, dangerous hellhole airports in other countries like the Philippines.

The delay avareages look about consistent with the rest of the world. Heathrow in the 80's, Frankfurt in the low 80's. Charles farking deGaulle in the 70's. It's nothing more than a sign of too much aluminum, too little concrete which is the case throughout the world.

Dulles has one of the slowest security lines of airports that I regularly go to. I've waited an hour at peak times. LAX is worse though because it's about 45 minutes all of the time.

ATL is consistently the fastest security for me, unless it's something like Spring Break and then it can get to an hour as well.

I got through security at LAX last Tuesday in about 5 minutes and I was traveling with a 10 year old. In the last year I've flown out of there about 6 times and it's never been longer than 10 minutes or so. Hell - sometimes I even go back out through security and grab a smoke if I've got a long enough wait and it's never been any issue. You must look like a terrorist or something.
