The first time I set eyes on Malala Yousafzai, I just got that old fashioned romantic feeling where I'd do anything to stone her. British-based Islamic radicals are announcing a fatwa on the 15-year-old girl shot by the Pakistan Taliban

Can't we just wipe out the middle east already?

That would play right into the eschatory masturbatory fantasies of the religious extremists in the US.

The only reason the right supports Israel is because the Bible says that Jesus won't come back until
Israel exists again, only so he can destroy it during the last battle with the Devil.

If the Palestinians were smart, they'd claim they were doing Jesus' work and that would get the GOP
on their side.

Okay how about we wipe out the middle east and the US? Seems to take care of everything, no?

She's a 15-year-old girl. Best to start before they become women. They start to think, and have opinions by that time. Then it's too late.

So you basically want to issue a fatwa on the entire Middle East?

Almost as many as France, and slightly more than Sweden (if you are Jewish, avoid Malmo).

I assume they have about as much power, and are about as much of a threat as radical Christians are here in America?

More riots, assaults, and burned cars. The radical christians here mostly just shout, call people vile names, and promise that they are going to burn in hell.

No, it's not quite a few. These days, I'd peg the number at probably around 100-200 true "radicals."

But the guys who made this fatwa are not those. They're jokes. Anjem Choudhary is a professional agitator who makes his career out of saying outrageous things and getting invited on TV shows to be yelled at. His group, Al-Muhajiroun (which was technically outlawed in 2004 but has existed under a half-dozen different names since then) is a shadow of its former self. They're the ones who are in that "Behead the unbelievers who say Islam isn't an peaceful religion" bullshiat picture.

Basically, y'all just got trolled, and badly. They're the Westboro Baptist Church of England.

Now I do seem to recall that Britain doesn't have the same "free speech" laws as we do in the US. Couldn't this be interpreted as conspiracy to commit murder? Or maybe incitement to violence or something (assuming that's a crime there)?

I was a research analyst studying Islamic terrorism for two years, with a special focus on the UK. Even at the height of Islamic radical activitiy in London in the late 90s/early 2000s, there were still only about 1500 members of any sort of "movement", though there were a lot of hangers-on. These days the majority have given it up and gone back to acting like right wing Christians over here (all bluster), or been arrested for one reason or another.

The actual Britons willing to go die for the cause has never been a high number at all. Even over the last decade and a half, I'd peg that number only around 300-400 (and the Home Office stats agree with that).

Guessing other Muslims will ignore this silly fatwa based on it's origin, al-Muhajiroun. Figure if it's a fatwa to do harm to 15 year old girl New Scottish Yard would get involved. Then again, maybe al-Muhairoun members like young girls and as such deserve a special place in British prisons.

I suggest delivering a message to the infamous Red Mosque sometime later this month. Maybe call in an order for 2,500 anchovy pizzas for "Muhammad at the Red Mosque"? Tell them, "And I'll be paying cash."

Glad to help. It was a great project to work on, and gave me a really good view of the overall landscape of Islamic terrorism in Western Countries; almost all of it directed from the outwards, and the attacks and plots that were occuring from people who actually lived in the countries was always from a very small number of people. Homegrown terrorism essentially comes from .01% of the Muslim population.

/of course, everything varies from country to country.

The Youtube Jihadists

It was an analysis of Youtube channels belonging to Anjem's group, where he'd point to them and claim he had a huge movement supporting him. We kinda debunked that, though we did note that the kind of people who were watching the videos were definitely of interest (three people worldwide linked to them actually were involved with planned or prevented attacks).

I'm the first Aaron, not the second Aaron (who is an actual expert who does stuff like read Al-Qaeda's forums for information, as opposed to me, who did it for two years and then left to do other things).

The key phrase being "... work towards..." this would be the sort of thing that would go on if they every actually got the laws they want.

Trolling implies that the person saying it doesn't actually believe it. It would be more accurate to say that I'm condemning with too broad a brush a wingnut who doesn't represent very many people.
