The @NYTOnIt account - which pokes fun at some lifestyle and trend stories in the Times

Sounds like the liberal media conspiracy trying to keep their detractors quiet, if the Jew York Times says black plastic frames and fauxhawks and small animal taxidermy is in then they are, sorry politico.

But feel free to spread the word over how the country's largest newspaper feels threatened by a small Twitter account right now

From what I understand, trademark lawyers err on the side of safety -- supposedly, if there's any instance where you fail to defend your trademark, that opens it up for other people to imitate your trademark or otherwise degrade its value.

Benjamin Kabak, the 29-year-old lawyer behind the account, told POLITICO that Twitter reenabled the account Tuesday morning but threatened him with permanent deletion if they receive another complaint.

"Twitter has suspended my account over a claim from The Times that my avatar violates a trademark," Kabak wrote Monday night on The Times Is On It Facebook page. "I say fair use."

In a brief statement to the media, Kabak's former law school disavowed any knowledge of him, or any other student who confuses a conclusion with an argument.

Who cares. NYT isn't fit to wrap fish in and twitter is full of twists. Morons being dumb near each other isn't news.

The NYT is against freedom of the press?

I guess the IRONIC tag was too deep into its facepalm to be available, subby

It looks like he was using this.....which is, uh, the first letter of The New York Times with a hat on it? Oh, a beret....how clever. Because the NYT is posh like the French?

I'm so glad I stopped to wonder about this. My life is much fuller now.

What else could we expect from a paper that doesn't have any funnies?

All I see is a crescent moon with a star within its points, and some sort of stylized Arabic character entwined with it.

So, they trademarked a "T". If he takes the diamond out of it, would it be ok?

They trademarked a very specific design for a "T".

If he takes the diamond out of it, would it be ok?

Probably not. If it still gives the same overall visual impression, leading to a likelihood of confusion among consumers between his version and their mark, it would still infringe.
