I ended my fasting last week with TG in mind.

I love pie. All kinds of pie. At some age I told my parents to get me birthday pie instead of cake because I liked pie so much more than cake. Decades later on FARK I learned that Russians give pie for birthdays, too.

Someone got me to try it for the first time last year. Not my favorite pie by any stretch of the means, but, I won't go as far as to call it horrible.

Not the kind of pie I was hoping for.....leaving disappoint.

Me too! Especially fruit pies (I will kill for peach) and strawberry (why all the mystery about strawberry pie in this thread). Hell, I've even made a mulberry pie, but it's tough to get enough mulberries.

Did anybody else notice the info about making your own crust on the right side of the chart? The dollar amounts don't add up to $3.52 and the recipe includes both butter and shortening, but no flour. Not a good crust, I'm thinking.

Ice water and really cold butter are the keys to a flaky pie crust.

Guests might bring pumpkin pie, but I won't touch the stuff. Pumpkins are decoration, not food in my book.

We had a mulberry tree in our back yard. Getting enough berries was easy as pie.

This is the only time of year I'll eat pumpkin pie. Give me a few heaping scoops of whipped cream and I'll eat a bunch of it.

Same here. Pumpkin pie, applie pie, and cheesecake. That's what my family does.

Also, I've lived in VA since 1996 and I've never heard of chess pie.

Lemon chess pie = awesome.
