Difference here is that the men involved in that should be tried and convicted of their own crimes. A CO is responsible for the actions of his men, however criminal activities should be and are handled under the UCMJ.
  • The command created an environment that allowed and encouraged these activities. Further the targeting of civilians who are merely accused of terrorism, subverting the sovereignty of an independent nation and pursuing a war against a people who had nothing to do with 9/11 and lack the material capacity to harm the United States are all war crimes.

I'm sorry, I know that it might be a shocking revelation but we're not the good guys in this. In fact we are all culpable in the deaths of thousands of civilians in both Afghanistan and Iraq.

It must suck to live in a permanent state of victimhood. How do you do it?

Not sure how admitting our country's culpability in our military's actions makes me a victim, but whatever.

Why don't you just go back to stroking yourself to pictures of giant munitions blowing up mud huts.

I think it mostly has to do with the fact that your particular narrative ignores a lot of salient facts. For example, the Taliban, following 9/11, came out and admitted to financing and supporting OBL, AQ, and the attacks.

You may not like it, but I believe we were justified in unseating an organization who funded the activities of militant organizations that have attacked western nations many times over.

As to the blood of civilians, I don't think anyone feels as bad about it as we do. Think we don't care? Take a good look at our Rules of Engagement. We went well out of our way to restrict our troops as much as we possibly could in regards to where and how they prosecute this war. Our enemies don't have nearly that compunction.

No one likes fighting these things. No one. war is messy, hellish, and does more to destroy people than anything. But war, among many of the other evils of mankind, is sometimes necessary when the choice is to fight a war or accept the atrocities inflicted by such regimes as the Taliban, Saddam Hussein, etc.

Of all the things that I think we've done wrong in all of it, however, I think our biggest mistake was expecting to bring western ideals of equality and democracy to a culture that has no concept of either.

But yes, we're war criminals, and we should all be punished.

All I have to go on are "media reports" and if you think that's evidence worthy of making analysis, then you're a tater head.
