If I'm not mistaken, the models on TPIR are independent contractors who are literally hired show to show. At least, that's how it was when Barker was host; I don't know if that's still the case. If it is, this verdict is exceptionally peculiar.

Nothing in the article; however, if she was an employee and a job wasn't held for her after a valid maternity (or other medical) leave, the case is pretty clear.

It would be nice to know the salient details like her employment status before the leave, how long she was absent from work, etc. But that would be responsible journalism, and too much to hope for.

I am always confused by the people who pass up on the ones where it is an awesome vacation or group of vactions to awesome places and then up with a showcase where it is like a home theater and a mid level sedan. I mean most of the vacations they offer are the kind of things that I know I would probably never be able to afford. I mean trip to Fiji or Paris or something and a stay in a 5 star hotel, awesome once in a lifetime thing that is way better then the usual vacations I take. A new living room set and a honda civic? Nice but the kind of thing that is maybe a little bit better then the furniture or cars I would be buying when it is time to buy a new sofa or car.

Sometimes cash along with it, sometimes activities and/or meals are included. Even if they didn't include anything, unless you get a showcase that is just 3 vacations you still get a bunch of other stuff with it. Sell the handbags or the cell phone or the computer you get and use that money for spending money on your trip. It is just interesting to me how many people who go on the price is right (and I used to watch it a lot last year since my 1 year old really got into it) and aren't really interested in travelling and seeing the world at all. I know if it was me I would much rather have an amazing vacation than an ok car (since I already have an ok car). The best are the people who you know are from places that probably aren't near water who end up winning really expensive boats. To me that would be the worst prize of all.

Also on an unrelated note some of the models they currently have working on the show are probably some of the hottest women on TV.

She was paid to be a hot model. Her body went all funhouse mirror. She no longer fills the requirements for the job.

And, if it's a weekly contract, they could have let her go for any reason.
