Two of my faborite cats were black. Tommy, who we thought was Tammy..and Porky. Who was huge, survived a fight with a car, broke his jaw, lost an eye, and went on to be a mighty hunter, and one of my best friends. I am so thankful for my feline family, past and present!

I had a black kitteh once also...his name was Hershey. Looked like chocolate in the sun...he treated his sister Josie just AWEFUL!!! Gawd, he was a little sh*t!! But I still loved him.

Happy Thanksgiving everbuddy! Went and made brunch for the step-dad, and came home. Was going to mow the back yard....while I still can, and the mower wouldn't start! Came in and was going to put plactic up on the 1 window that needs it for the winter, and I bought the wrong size of plastic, so I said "screw it" and opened a beer! :D

I like this story....very nice way to find homes for the "ebil" black kittehs!

Just got back from niece's for dinner. We had your basic turkey with stuffing,mashed potatoes,green bean casserole,cranberry from the can, sweet potatoes,pumpkin pie and cherry pie. Her husband made baked beans with jalapeno peppers yesterday and served it today so after 24 hours it was more like jalapeno peppers with some baked beans.
I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving.

Not to spoil the good spirit, but isn't part of the point of charging an adoption fee to actually add a sense of value to the animal? Shots and vet bills aside, I've heard more than one agency say they charge what they do so people don't adopt them willy-nilly, possibly resulting in the animal being abandoned.

Did you bring home some leftovers for Gremie? Eli had some turkey giblets..he said they were nom-omnom delicious! I had to throw him out at dinner. He wanted his own plate at the table!

I woke up at 4:00 this morning with 'Alice's Restaurant" in my head......don't know why at all. In the links I was looking at today, someone posted the original version of the song!! I sent the link to all my friends just to make their day even brighter!

That is a good point, but I think they still have to fill out adoption papers either way.

I suspect this is to highlight the fact that often times black cats, and dogs don't get adopted, like other colours do. I would still donate something...and I bet most adopters will as well. And yes, fees both fund and add value to pet adoptions. -which is why a pet Guinea Pig will set you back 30.00...(because they are a long term commitment...5-7 yrs!).

Then, she climbed up onto my shoulder and purred into my left ear for several minutes before
climbing back down onto my lap and inviting me to pet her.

She was so close, and the camera on my phone is so crappy that I wasn't able
to get any decent pictures to prove that it really happened. Oh well.

I got myself some actual "Furry Lovin"!

Not to gross anybody out but my family likes fried gizzards so while most people fight over the drumsticks my family draws lots for the gizzard. Tomorrow when I make a turkey sandwich for lunch Jack and Gremie will get their share then, because they will be trying to trip me to get to the sandwich.

She is adorable! We had a male cat years ago who adored men, and especially ones with facial hair! He once jumped up onto the lap of the cable guy and was nuzzling the poor guys mustache. The guy took it pretty much in stride. I thought it was hilarious!

That's my thinking. I think I would be hesitant to give away a cat, especially a black cat. I can see cutting their adoption fee but free makes me leery of freaks and weirdos (well, freaks and weirdos worse than us! HA!)

Ok, so now I have to tell the "Parrot" tale. My great Grandma lived on a farm. She always made Sunday dinner. One time she invited the minister, and introduced him to her Parrot, who knew that nursery rhyme..only this time the bird kept repeating, "Georgie Porgie Puddin and pie, kissed the girls and made them" try as she might she could not get the bird to finish the phrase. No one knows what the Preacher thought! But I bet he was scandalized!

We met my brother & his wife, along with my sister at a restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner.
That way, nobody had to cook or clean and everything was simpler.
But overall, it was OK. Nothing special but there's much to be said for simple.

...Oh, dear ceiling cat, why did I eat all of that food?
Oh, yeah: because it was freakin' delicious, that's why.

My grandma is a darn good cook. She's from Oklahoma and if you know anything about Southern cooking...she makes a potato salad that makes the store bought ones taste like shiat.

We had:
Turkey, homemade potato salad, homemade cornbread stuffing, giblet gravy, mixed vegetables, cranberry sauce, homemade pumpkin pies, fruit salad with whipped topping, our answer to ambrosia with pie filling in the mix, and lots of Cool Whip.
Oh, I could pass out. It was good!

Since I got home Gremie has been following me around, rubbing against me, head butts and talking since I walked in the door. My n54788++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++\7 Gremie says "Hello."
My niece has a Golden Retriever and Gremie takes great offense to Sadie having the nerve to get her scent on me. Jack was one sniff and "oh, you're home."

Yep, we are stuffed here too! I use the giblets in the stuffing(bread)..plus bird, sweet spuds, made by hubby, and cranberry/apple/pineapple jello salad. It is really good! Just a nice twist on the usual cranberry sauce. My Mom served it a few yrs ago, and we fell in love with it!
