| ArkAngel The pose she's in certainly looks inappropriate at first glance. How much time do people expect Facebook employees to spend checking each photo reported inappropriate? |
||
| serial_crusher Yeah, it's absolutely crazy that facebook's algorithm has such a high instance of false positives. Sheerly unfathomable that it might think that elbow was a boob. Even with human moderators, my company has had to make our moderation tool configurable such that the moderator sees a small thumbnail of an image instead of the whole thing. Because let's see how you feel after a 12 hour shift of looking at full sized hoarse pictures. So yeah, it's understandable that a thumbnail of that would be quickly dismissed as a boob and not further inspected if the moderator was gay or an ass man. |

Interesting how there are guidelines on verbal humor and it is a bunch of people whose native language is not English are, somehow, going to "get" the jokes or not. |

Has anyone else's friends copy-pasted that dumb declaration on their wall yet that supposedly free's them of Facebooks TOS they agreed to by citing some laws and other internet lawyer nonsense? I had to politely put out a status update kindly informing people (after seeing a family member and a friend post this stupid declaration) that there little post is as useless as tits on a bull. |

Are they deleted because they feature inappropriate sexual content... or are they deleted because Facebook can't use them as a revenue source? Check the TOS, if you upload it you've given them a license to use it in their promo's and adverts should they wish. And the other question is: Is the image REALLY deleted as in 'gone from the server' or just hidden from public view? |

| Latinwolf FTA: Facebook is moderated by workers in Morocco and other developing countries paid $1 an hour via an online outsourcing company called oDesk, one of whose aggrieved workers leaked details of policies, pictured above, earlier this year. I think I see the problem here. |

Isn't that image technically NSFW in that the point is if someone walking by may perceive it as pron? I had to do a double |

| dugitman zvoidx: Isn't that image technically NSFW in that the point is if someone walking by may perceive it as pron? I would say so. If I ran across it here(except maybe in an obvious boobies thread), I would have deleted it immediately so no one got in trouble at work from a passing boss. After looking at it further, I'm not sure what I would do about it for future threads, but I'm of the opinion it is staged well enough to get someone in trouble at work-- so is therefore NSFW. /mod's 2¢ //YMMV |

I think I see the problem here. Aggrieved workers of oDesk? Umm, oDesk is a site that hooks up employers with employees, its like selling on eBay, you have to be careful, you don't "work for oDesk". I started my career on oDesk and did very well on it before moving on, people abused on oDesk are the same people who are abused on eBay. |

||
| I_C_Weener Yep, it would be NSFW in my opinion too. Not because of what is actually there, but because of the perception. We don't want someone losing their job or internet access simply because a supervisor saw or thought they saw them viewing pron. Sometimes the fake but accurate or accurate but fake NSFW has to go too. Sadly. |

Check the TOS, if you upload it you've given them a license to use it in their promo's and adverts should they wish. And the other question is: Is the image REALLY deleted as in 'gone from the server' or just hidden from public view? My understanding was FB has a hard to impossible time perma deleting every single photo because their storage system has to handle billions of pictures a second, so they don't reference them in a standard way, they reference them in a one-off system that precludes this and I have no clue how that works and hope someone else does. Also tranny down thread is surprisingly cute. Good for him. |

i'm just endlessly amused by how an entirely demure photo of a breastfeeding mother will get banned in minutes, but a mirror shot of a 15 year old in just a thong, cupping her tits with one hand, is totally fine and dandy. /then again, one has broader creeper appeal... |

I'm sure some of that has to do with what was reported, if anything. Mods can't be everywhere. And while, NSFW is sometimes in the eye of the beholding Mod, there are some that are clearly NSFW and many that are in that gray area. Again, the point isn't to limit people's creativity but to make sure no one gets penalized at work. |

How can you say what MY best interest is? What are you trying to say? I'M crazy? When I went to YOUR schools, I went to YOUR churches, I went to YOUR institutional learning facilities? So how can you say I'M crazy? Long answer: Yes. Short answer: While the opportunity arises occasionally for me to jab a certain mod for personal entertainment I do understand the point of view he has. With my proclivity to entice certain members of our community in specific threads, which may or may not be NSFW (Not Safe for Work), I agree with his statement. There is a certain line and once crossed it can lead to issues for employee's (note: not employers) when viewing said discussions. At times not only will the moderators take action to remove said images and or text, there are times when items will slip through the safety net at which point well minded users may point out the violations of the ToS (Terms of Service) that we all agree to when using this site. So, longer answer: Yes, you are crazy. /Threadjack over. |
