Snopes?! Pfft. I don't buy liberal lies. I have read the Constitution and I know that this is valid. These snopes people haven't done their homework. Study it out and you will see. Just study it out. |

It says "UCC 1-308" herp derp. That means the magic really works. |

What is this book of faces everyone is talking about? |

You know what will help? Not posting things you want to keep private. Just a thought. //Sent from my NunOfYaBusiness5000 |

It's people like this that makes me wonder why contraception isn't used more often |

Thanks Mike. :P |

| factoryconnection I just saw one of those posts this morning after quite a long respite and responded with this link. I thought the rumor had played itself out but clearly I was wrong. Odd that of all the people I've seen post that IP protection claim never seem to offer anything interesting beyond links (not their IP) and maybe baby/dog/cat pictures. |
||
| moothemagiccow If it's "my" wall I should be able to govern the rules of it. Stop spying on my wall, facebook. It's mine. |

| Needlessly Complicated
I was wondering why half my friends list was posting the same thing. /go back to posting cryptic messages about the color of the bra you are wearing |

| Kuroshin factoryconnection: I just saw one of those posts this morning after quite a long respite and responded with this link. I thought the rumor had played itself out but clearly I was wrong. Odd that of all the people I've seen post that IP protection claim never seem to offer anything interesting beyond links (not their IP) and maybe baby/dog/cat pictures. I thought it was rather lulzy. Tried to keep the copypasta ball rolling, but I'm not popular enough. |
||
| jake_lex So posting "I hereby declare that all laws against theft no longer apply to me, so therefore I am allowed to take anything I want from any store" to my Facebook wall won't work? |
||
| El Morro
Why do so many people have to be so damn stupid? What is going on in their brains that stops them from realizing just how retarded posting such a "legal notice" makes them look? And most importantly, where are my pants? |

diaphoresis: It's people like this that makes me wonder why contraception isn't used more often The ones smart enough to use contraception properly aren't breeding at the rate of the dumb-as-fark ones who put no forethought into their reproductive actions. |

"Berner Convention"? Sounds like this was written by someone who attended a 'burner' convention. |

Ayup. My sister (who's usually pretty reasonable) posted that stupid thing this morning. |

| factoryconnection Kuroshin: I thought it was rather lulzy. Tried to keep the copypasta ball rolling, but I'm not popular enough. I like the smarmy re-writes that people do to spoof all the chain statuses. El Morro: Why do so many people have to be so damn stupid? Extreme low effort, zero risk, high potential benefit. Researching it is more effort than just copy/pasting it. |

I want to post all of my personal information on Facebook and I assume Facebook lets me do it for free out of the goodness of their hearts. I'm also buying a ton of Facebook stock even though by that same logic they have no way of making money. |

| fanbladesaresharp
Even more amusing? People with Adultfriendfinder profiles with the same "Not yours, bad monkey!" shiat. /go ahead....look. |
||
| Tell Me How My Blog Tastes What do you mean I can't individually alter the terms of service after I've already agreed to them? What is this madness? |
||
| elffster
i find when folks do this its just pointless to explain to them that they signed a TOS and by using the site they agree to it, so no matter what they blather its a lost cause. so fark them. |

Well your honor, conjecture and hearsay are both kinds of evidence. |

In our system, legality is ultimately decided by a jury comprised solely of people not smart enough to get out of jury duty. |

Extreme low effort, zero risk, high potential benefit. Researching it is more effort than just copy/pasting it. It really shouldn't be necessary to research it. Common sense and even a minimal knowledge of law should tell you that the terms of service you willingly agreed to trumps your post that Mark Zuckerberg has never consented to. Though, the debunkers are making me sad. Those notices were a top-notch self-imposed "I'm a dumbass" alert to let you know that the people you're dealing with aren't very bright. |

Rose: I, um, I address the Sycorax, um, according to... Article 15 of the Shadow Proclamation. I command you to *leave* this world with all the authority of... the Slitheen Parliament of Raxacoricofallapatorious, and, um, the Gelth Confederacy, as, uh, sanctioned by the Mighty Jagrafess, and, ooh! the Daleks! Now *leave* this planet in *peace*! In peace. /particularly enjoy the variant of the facebook disclaimer with the citation of the Rome Statute as somehow protecting personal privacy. |

Next, you're going to tell me that when I ask the hooker if she's a cop, a real police officer doesn't have to say yes or that those "You break it, you buy it" signs aren't legally enforceable. |

She also thinks that Fark is two guys from California spouting their opinions and I'm brainwashed by them ;/ I don't know where that one came from! *and everyone thought I was the crazy one* |

| Dr Dreidel elffster: i find when folks do this its just pointless to explain to them that they signed a TOS and by using the site they agree to it, so no matter what they blather its a lost cause. so fark them. But what of the fact that you can't "delete" a Facebook account? Does this mean that by registering even once, Facebook retains every right to the info you posted, even if they alter the deal? I suspect they have rights to do whatever with your info, and if you request account removal, they remove your account per whatever their policy, and your data is "theirs" under the terms of the most recent TOS in place (that you agreed to at some point) when you requested removal. Anyway, the first court cases involving Facebook's uses of personal data ought to be fun. // Facebook's uses, not the creepy sheriff's or nosy boss' |

| OK So Amuse Me
Saw this on one friends wall this morning...hadn't seen it for a while. I have noticed that most of the people that post crap like this are ones that show an edge of 'the conspiracy theorists, birther, redneck, etc. tendencies. So there's that! You can't convince them that they're pissing into the wind, they just KNOW they have it beat!!! Wish you could farkie and tag people on fb like you can here. |
||
| Dr Dreidel moothemagiccow: Last EULA I looked at provided for them to change the contract without asking you. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/10-ridicu lous-eula-clauses-agreed/ Most EULAs do that. What I'm saying is that if I send a notice to Mark Zuckerberg to remove or delete your account, under whatever of their governing policies, do they have to remove it? If so, what of the information that they retain (because full-on deletion isn't an option, and FB retains "rights" to shiat you've uploaded) - is it governed under whatever their current EULA says or the last EULA your shiat was subject to (the last one implemented before you requested removal)? Or is it "once you make data available for us, it's ours, no backsies (and we can alter the deal whether you pray or not)"? |

El Morro: Why do so many people have to be so damn stupid? What is going on in their brains that stops them from realizing just how retarded posting such a "legal notice" makes them look? And most importantly, where are my pants? This. One of my idiot friends posted it last night. After losing quite a bit of respect for him, I responded with "You think this is bad? Morgan Freeman just died and the Post Office is going to start charging $0.25 per e-mail." |
||
| downstairs I know an actual lawyer who posted this crap to his page. |
||
| sforce
I tried to point out the absurdity of it to someone. They told me they don't trust Snopes. Ok, how about the story from Slate? .. CBSNews? .. USA Today? ... their response "My uncle is a lawyer and he posted it on his page so I'll trust that." .... ugh. |
