Florida Institute of Technology must be a lousy tech school if their students need Mythbusters to teach them how easy it is to build a homemade bomb. |

Oh, boy. Here we go.... |

Let me guess: Dry ice? |

| ReverendJasen Lye + aluminum foil in a 2 liter. I was making those in high school. |

cue perpetrator's parents suing the school, discovery channel, mythbusters etc for causing their child to build a bomb. |

| Magorn timswar: Florida Institute of Technology must be a lousy tech school if their students need Mythbusters to teach them how easy it is to build a homemade bomb. came here to say exactly that. No School ending in "IT" should even ADMIT a kid who can't make a respectable explosive in 15 min with nothing more than the contents of a common kitchen sink cabinet. Jesus, what's happened to our country's standards anyway? |
||
| Shadow Blasko Quick... I better blame someone or they will blame me! uhh .. The internets? "What on the internets?" Uhh .. Mythbusters.. Yeah! That was it. /Total BS |
||
| Rihlsul
Maybe his punishment could be the judge handing him over to the Mythbusters for the tirade that they will surely have ready when they hear about this moron. I would not want to be on the receiving end of either a pissed Jamie or Adam. |

He shoulda just stuck with 'milking' or 'butt-chugging' or whatever else the retards are doing to amuse themselves these days... |

In fairness, they're not trying it at home, they're trying it at school. |
||
| slayer199 I'm calling BS because whenever they make explosives on Mythbusters, they don't show the ingredients. |

Weird, I thought it was exclusively heavy metal bands that cause this kind of thing. |

Adam: Remember, don't try this at home. Jamie: We're what you call "experts". |

OK, when I was a kid, we would go to a shopping plaza, in the hardware store, buy a pipe with 2 endcaps, then go 2 stores over to the gun shop and buy pyrodex and cannon fuse. And we were under 13 |

| Real Women Drink Akvavit Orgasmatron138: Weird, I thought it was exclusively heavy metal bands that cause this kind of thing. Nah. Metal heads generally gave up with the whole wanton destruction and church arson thing back in the 90's. Unless the youngsters are feeling left out and recreating our shenanigans from days of old. /feels very old now |

| Vlad_the_Inaner Subby missed the trolltasic graphic in ABC's version Link /if its baking soda and vinegar in a 2 liter bottle, I don't think I want my tax dollars running a double felony prosecution on this. And FIT is in my town, so it would be my tax dollars |
||
| The Irresponsible Captain The only thing he's guilty of is being stupid enough to do this in a stairwell. Today a shaken soda can is a "Terr'ist bomby incendiary IED". |

My 7th grade Science book listed the ingredients for Black Powder. My dad had a jar of sulpher, charcoal is free and I went to the drug store and purchased a bottle of Salt Peter (potassium nitrate) for $1.50. It took me a few tries to get the ratio correct, but I had fun. My dad walked in on me and asked what I was doing. He about flipped when I said "making Gunpowder". When he asked where I learned it, I told him I learned it from my Science book. He was so happy I was learning stuff in school he gave a a piece of Magnesium and told me to "take a file and add some magnesium filings" to my gunpowder to "see what happens". Father/son bonding with my dad usually included things that went BOOM. |

That nothing. My engineering college had a group into gunsmithing. I'm pretty sure a few full-auto weapons came out of the fabrication lab. /You can't write machine shop on a grant application. |

I'm reminded of the Beavis and Butthead episode where they watch a History channel episode on Benjamin Franklin's kite experiment. When they get hurt replicating it, the media blames TV. The point is: it's not the TV show that's the problem - it's the idiots. |
||
| Coastalgrl I find it amusing that I hear about this on FARK rather than through the university alert system. From the student sampling that I taught this term, some students were exceptionally bright and motivated. Others....I have no idea how they got into school. |

They used powdered Coffee Creamer to mimic the explosions that can happen in Flour Mills or grain silos. Airbourne coffee Creamer + ignition source = massive fireball. C |
