| Pants full of macaroni!!
News to me. I thought I went to work that day. |
| soopey I would not call what I did shopping. It was more like a surgical special ops. Insertion at 0330. Wait until 0400 start time. Complete transaction quickly. Extraction ASAP. Return home for a cup of joe and a nap. |

Meaningless statistics are meaningless. |

Does waiting for one deal to pop up on Amazon count? I truly don't know how I survived! /the carnage... it haunts me... |
| Millennium
Well, I bought lunch, I guess. That's the only thing I remember buying on Black Friday this year, online or offline. |
| Jedekai
Guilty. I bought a hot pocket AND a cup of coffee... and I only had to wait 3 minutes! Those suckers got out tents for nothing! HAHAHAHA! |
| david_gaithersburg
I picked up rotors and new pads for the car, so I count too. |
| Solty Dog I didn't even put pants on that day. That's not to say I didn't go shopping. |
| The Slush
Well, I bought my wife a magazine at the airport on my way home from Ireland. So I guess that counts |

I bought absolutely nothing on Friday...although I did order a pair of jeans and shirt from JCPenney at 2 AM saturday morning.. |
| Derek Force I slept til 10 then put up our christmas tree. I dont think that counts as shopping. |
| skinink If by saying shopping they really mean masturbation, then yes I went "shopping" on Black Friday. |
| zarnik
I bought weed. Does that count as black friday shopping? /wait...whuh? |
| abhorrent1
I went to the gas station and filled up my car on Saturday. Does that count? /Stayed far away from shopping centers. |

I'm guilty of shopping Saturday, but only at the liquor and grocery stores. Do I count towards that total? |
| Bedstead Polisher
I like being pedantic but that article was ridiculous. |
| MadMonk
Maybe a lot of people went shopping more than once that day? //maybe it was one guy with six guns |
| special20 Maybe they could have subtracted the amount of dirty diapers left in the parking lots, and gotten to a number that didn't include the "illegals". |
| jpo2269
Funny, I thought I was at work on Friday.. |

Bruce Campbell: I'm guilty of shopping Saturday, but only at the liquor and grocery stores. Do I count towards that total? Me too, does hookers and blow count? |

I bought a couple of rare Atari 2600 game cartridges at a retro store in Easton, PA. Yes, I am a nerd. |

I never left the house, finally put on pants around 11:00, and avoided humanity. The family was there, which is fine, but the rest of you people---forget it. |
| ronaprhys
No real shopping. I did drive from Ohio to Virginia, so I had to buy gas. Guess that counts in their idiot totals. |
| bingo the psych-o
I didn't go shopping and I had the day off so I didn't work either. Fear my power! |
| LoneWolf343
I bought a pair of shoes. Price was outrageous ever after the sale. Our local store is a racket. I also took advantage of the Manga Studio sale. At 90% off, it was hard to say no. Also bought an expansion to Civ V. Wouldn't call it "shopping," though. Only the shoes I "shopped" for, and the others were happenstance. |

How does visiting a news site on that day count as a shopping trip? |
| kenadak
** Estimated # of shoppers Thursday through Sunday includes individual consumers shopping on multiple days. The estimated # of unique consumers shopping in-store or online is 139.4 million adults shopping multiple days over the 4 day weekend. |
| PreMortem Good god. Yahoo News, CNN Money, and The Weekly Standard (and more) can all EABOD. from the actual NRF survey: * NRF's definition of "Black Friday weekend" includes Thursday, Friday, Saturday and projected spending for Sunday. ** Estimated # of shoppers Thursday through Sunday includes individual consumers shopping on multiple days. The estimated # of unique consumers shopping in-store or online is 139.4 million adults shopping multiple days over the 4 day weekend. But hey, sensationalism gets web traffic. |

CNN: Every adult in the USA went shopping on Black Friday. Or returned stuff on empty mall Saturday morning. |
| Strik3r
WRONG. I didn't work and I didn't shop. |
| fruitloop The headline reads: "247 million shoppers visited stores and websites Black Friday weekend." None of us were safe. |
| SwingDancer
checked out the online sales in a dozen stores, ended up waiting on a deal from amazon. for 1 hr, then calling it. New toy for me :) |
| JackieRabbit
I did not. I would not. I went past many shopping centers and malls and, while busier than usual, they really weren't thronged with shoppers. So I'm thinking that the various and sundry retailer associations are using the media to create a frenzy to attract sheep. It amazes me that people fall for this shiat. |
| Devolving_Spud I did not go shopping in a mall or on the Internet at all I did not shop here or there I did not shop anywhere |
| Hack Patooey I was up on a mountain in NH Friday, and I didnt see any phone kiosks up there... |
| Zelron
I went shopping. I bought some head lice treatment for my kids. |

I came to post something similar but hey, shower took precedence to pointing out useless statistics in a news story. I am curious though, as to how that number compares to any other 4 day weekend and people out shopping because of the sales etc. |

I went to the knitting store. I had needles to pick up and yarn for a sweater to order. /meh, no major sale //doesn't matter, I now have carbon fiber knitting needles |
| Random Anonymous Blackmail News, now painting with a broader brush. Yes I went shopping for groceries and alcohol but those aren't the facts they want to dig into they just see my transaction being made. |
| FriarReb98 Does getting lunch at the food court in the outlet mall where I worked count? Not that they're the best place either, I just wanted a slice of pizza. |
| LooseLips
I was attending a funeral that morning, so fark off CNN. Black Friday indeed. |
| mod3072
I went out to the farm for the holidays. I literally did not spend a dime between Wednesday afternoon and Monday evening. Suck it, economy!! |
