"All right"? |

| Abox
A pox on everyone posting that stupid copyright notice on Facebook. |

baldrik78: "All right"? What's wrong with that? If you mean "Shouldn't that be 'alright'?" then you are dead wrong. 'Alright' has never been anything other than a non-standard variant - in other words, incorrect. /got up on the wrong side this morning. |

Abox: A pox on everyone posting that stupid copyright notice on Facebook. That's cool...but this article has nothing to do with that...sooooo...yeah... |

baldrik78: "All right"? According to many style guides (including Chicago and AP), "all right" is technically the correct way to write the term--"alright" is considered a colloquialism. |

| HindiDiscoMonster I am sure this will work out well for him... /proxy....who me? |

baldrik78: /Louisiana native //English is a second language here ///Everything is alright. I thought it was 'awright' down there. Doesn't it go something like this: "Where y'at?" "Awright." Never been down there, but I hear it's nice when it's not 95 degrees and 100% humidity. I spend my days reading freshman composition essays, so all I see are errors any more. It makes for a blood-boiling life. I keep saying I should just become a pit monkey at some 15 minute oil change place or something. It might relax me a biatcheers! |

| BolloxReader Sounds like they didn't kill enough people in the last revolution. Hopefully they'll be able to finish the job when they tired of the current "administration." Probably not though. Nobody with any power in those parts care enough about their own people. Especially when one's biggest point of interest is being a waypoint on drug trafficking routes. Some people may actually have been better off under Soviet rule. At least back then they could sign up for the army and get stationed elsewhere. Now they only have one place to suffer. |

Billy Bathsalt: Shouldn't that be "all I see are errors anymore?" Depending whom you ask, either are acceptable. Truthfully, given the blather I read daily, it's a wonder I can continue to compose intelligible English at all. Consider the following actual example of student writing I encountered this semester: "Here in the US we went up against slavery and woman's rights. Cannot really be that individual when to get a point across hundreds or thousands of people across to support the same idea." And that's one of the more coherent sentences I've seen. /Is this where I say "end threadjack"? |
