| Because People in power are Stupid This story is so fishy. How did he lure them into his house? |
||
| Jackson Herring In a criminal complaint, Smith said he was in the basement of his home when he heard a window breaking and footsteps. Fearful of other recent break-ins, he shot Schaeffel when he came into view. When the teenager tumbled down the stars, Smith shot him in the face as he lay on the floor, looking up. 'I want him dead,' the complaint quoted Smith as telling an investigator. He dragged the body into his workshop and then sat in the chair, the complaint said. When Kifer began walking down the stairs, he shot her and she fell down the stairs. He tried to shoot her again with his rifle, but the gun jammed and Kifer laughed at him, the complaint noted. 'If you're trying to shoot somebody and they laugh at you, you go again,' Smith, 64, told investigators, according to a criminal complaint filed Monday. He then shot her several times in the chest with a .22-caliber revolver, dragged her next to her cousin, and with as she gasped for air, fired a shot under her chin 'up into the cranium'. 'Smith described it as "a good clean finishing shot",' according to the compliant, and acknowledged he had fired 'more shots than (he) needed to'. Smith said he left the bodies in his home overnight before calling a neighbor to ask if he knew a good lawyer. He later asked the neighbour to contact police. Oh yeah, just a guy protecting his home from dangerous invaders. |

Jackson Herring: He later asked the neighbour to contact police. I've read from other sources that he did not actually ask the neighbor to contact the police; he asked the neighbor if he knew a good lawyer, and the neighbor, who'd heard shots from his house the night before, called the police. |

He had such a tremendous boner from executing two teenagers that he couldn't even dial the phone for 24 hours after the deed. I mean he is the real victim here. |

"a good clean finishing shot"... nothing suspicious or calculated about this. |
||
| dittybopper This guy should go away for murder, because that is what he did, by his own admission. Case closed. |

Hmm, sounds like murder, especially putting a barrel to the person's head and putting another bullet in them after you'd already shot them in self defense. |

| Kaeishiwaza
Wow, that is stomach churning. Did he have the right to shoot her? Sure. Did he have the right to shoot her, then shoot her more, then execute her? No. Send him to jail for the rest of his miserable days. |

| Kimothy Trolltastic category there, subby. //Definitely not a hero. Just an angry old man - sorry, angry old murderer. |
||
| LeroyBourne This is quite the buzz around here. I made the comment to a friend that they look like good kids and she said it's not like the news is gonna put up pics of them boozing or mugshots. Then, when the media was interviewing friends of the kids, they all said they kids had problems with getting into trouble, but they didn't deserve THAT. I didn't even have to click the link, I knew exactly what the story was just by the headline, farking creepy. |

If you don't want to get shot in the head, don't break into a stranger's home. Fark those stupid kids. I wish he had brought them back to life then killed them both again. |

| ChipNASA kvinesknows: Id jam my gun in her. [i.dailymail.co.uk image 306x423] He should have just raped her after he shot her the first time. No need to go *overboard* and shot her up through the cranium, unless he was doing it with his penis, through her vagina, while her dying cousin watched him rape her before her death. That was how it should have been done. 23/10 |

Don't want to get shot and die, don't break into a former Embassy Security Agent, it's that simple. |

Everything about this needs more investigation. Including his claim they were breaking in. According to nutbag, the following happened: Male victim was shot and killed. Then female victim, apparently deaf since she didn't hear someone shooting the male follows male into house. Female gets shot and falls down the stairs, then laughs when the gun jams. Because laughing is totally what people who have just been shot are known for doing. I have a hard time buying ANY of that. This freak's so crazy if he told me water was wet I'd go to the sink and check to be sure. |

This could have all been avoided if the old man only shot them in the leg... or the kids didn't break into his house in the first place, probably the best way to avoid it all.. |
||
| Lutrasimilis
Yeah what a hero. |

They shouldn't have broken into his house if they didn't want to get shot... wait, they were white? |

If there's a thief in your house, you have every right to shoot them. They could be armed. If you have someone gurgling blood and bleeding out at the foot of your stairs and you drag them into a chair and execute them, you're a psychopath who was hoping for such an opportunity. I'm all for gun ownership rights but I think there's something to be said for valuing human life, even if you view criminals as sub-human. Cops don't execute downed criminals or handcuffed ones, what threat did they have to this guy? He had "won" the firefight, why the killing? Because they laughed at him so you "go again"? THESE are the kinds of people who make me wary of some gun owners, people who are looking for any excuse. Again, I'm not defending thieves and these people were breaking into a house. But from the dude's perspective, tie them to a chair after you incapacitate them and call the cops (IMMEDIATELY). Maybe they bleed to death, and that's just how it plays out. But a bullet under the chin to a restrained and wounded person? This isn't Nam, there are rules. |

No guy likes a girl to laugh at his tiny gun. |
||
| Bareefer Obonghit
he told them he fired more shots than necessary after his gun jammed and Kifer laughed at him. Well, there's your problem, if the robbers were polite we wouldn't be in this pickle now would we? |

Crazy old man vs. dumbshiat teenagers. All three removed from society and nothing of value was lost. |

| Quasar I don't normally feel bad about douche kids getting recompense for criminal behavior but Jesus Christ, dude. He executed both of them. |

Don't go shootin' anyone in the leg, there is a femoral artery there. |

Because People in power are Stupid: This story is so fishy. How did he lure them into his house? Then bragged about executing them using multiple weapons. Using his own confession it doesn't sound like any so-called "stand-your-ground" defense would work. He never mentions being afraid of physical harm, in fact he seems to acknowledge that revenge, not fear drove his actions. Something is really odd here and "breaking in to look for pills" seems fishy. Was he dealing/selling them and something went wrong? |
||
| philotech
If you break into a house in a state that has a castle doctrine... You kinda had it coming... I don't understand how killing someone with 1 bullet is worse than killing them with 15... What if I pray and spray and just happen to hit every time? |
||
| Quasar As for the laughing it might have been panicked, "oh thank god I'm not going to die" laughter. |
||
| Jackson Herring signaljammer: Don't go shootin' anyone |

| ongbok Because People in power are Stupid: This story is so fishy. How did he lure them into his house? FTA She added that her cousin, who had undergone treatment for substance abuse, could have been after pills from the home. He used the old prescription medicine ruse to lure them to his house. But seriously, they were burglarizing his house and he had the right to shoot them, but once they weren't any danger to him anymore, he didn't have the right to execute them, and that is what he did, execute them. Also, why in the hell would the girl go down the stirs after her cousin got shot? Didn't she hear the gun shots and hear him fall? Was she that much of a dope fiend that she had to get those pills? |

Sounds like strait up murder to me, not home defense. /breaking into strangers homes is bad for reasons such as these. /altho something's telling me this wasn't a break in. |

Romerovoice: If you break into a house in the United States, expect to get shot. Seriously, people are sorry for the shiatty kids? While I wouldn't execute unarmed teenagers for breaking into my house, that is simply because I am a nice guy. Solution: Teach your kids not to farking burglarize angry old men. |
