This story is so fishy. How did he lure them into his house?

In a criminal complaint, Smith said he was in the basement of his home when he heard a window breaking and footsteps. Fearful of other recent break-ins, he shot Schaeffel when he came into view.

Smith said he left the bodies in his home overnight before calling a neighbor to ask if he knew a good lawyer. He later asked the neighbour to contact police.

This is quite the buzz around here. I made the comment to a friend that they look like good kids and she said it's not like the news is gonna put up pics of them boozing or mugshots. I'm all for gun ownership rights but I think there's something to be said for valuing human life, even if you view criminals as sub-human. Cops don't execute downed criminals or handcuffed ones, what threat did they have to this guy? He had "won" the firefight, why the killing? Because they laughed at him so you "go again"? THESE are the kinds of people who make me wary of some gun owners, people who are looking for any excuse.

Then bragged about executing them using multiple weapons. Using his own confession it doesn't sound like any so-called "stand-your-ground" defense would work. He never mentions being afraid of physical harm, in fact he seems to acknowledge that revenge, not fear drove his actions. Something is really odd here and "breaking in to look for pills" seems fishy. Was he dealing/selling them and something went wrong?
