| Teacher writes "You can't be a Democrat & go to heaven" on her chalkboard during class, not only trying to discriminate against liberals but enforce her Christian beliefs on students as well |

"I feel like she was bullied by a teacher," Gilbert said of her daughter. She was, but it was Christian bullying, so it's totally acceptable. |

So, she believes there's no room for Jesus in Republican heaven? |

| impaler Matthew 7:3-5 3 "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. |

| MaudlinMutantMollusk I can't wrap my brain around stories like this. I mean, WTF was this "teacher" thinking when she did that? Send the kids home to enlighten their parents? Sway future voters? Did she believe there would be no repercussions? And if she believed there would be no repercussions, isn't she too farking stupid to be a teacher? /WTF? on so many levels |
||
| serial_crusher What is she talking about? Dead people register to vote as Democrats all the time. |

| PreMortem This is honestly the first time I've heard of someone home schooling their kid to keep them away from religious nutjobs. I hope I win the powerball so I can have the millennium falcon built and fly away from this planet. |

Overworked, underpaid, everyone's a backseat driver: you just snap. I don't mean you go on a rampage or anything. But eventually you just reach a point where you just lose the ability to use judgement. It happens a lot. I'd bet mental exhaustion is behind more sick days than disease. Next time your teacher is a sub, ask yoursef "Is it really a cold or does teaching just suck." then vote for pay rises to educators. (Raise in 'merican, I guess.) |

| Snarcoleptic_Hoosier Of course Democrats don't get to heaven. Heaven is for Ron Paul fans - it's a literal city of gold run by an absolute ruler. |

I have a friend from Laurel County who currently works for the state Democratic Party in Frankfort. He told me it was difficult to tell his family and friends he was a Democrat. As he put it, "Admitting you're a Democrat in London is about like admitting you're a homosexual." |
||
| MmmmBacon What will be funny is if the 'Tucky Education Professional Standards Board comes down hard on this teacher, and most likely tries to take away her teaching credentials, and the teacher turns to the Union for help. You know, the nasty, horrible, Liberal Teacher's Union? The one that most likely gave (through its national body) to the Obama re-election campaign? Yeah, that one. I know it wouldn't happen, but it would be funny if her Steward told said teacher they would help defend her, but that it meant she would be going to Hell with the Liberals, Gheys and Union Thugs. |

||
| dickfreckle Since this was a 'conservative's' comment, it won't be known by too many people. We'll gripe about it here and on some blogs. But had some teacher done the same, only substituting "Republicans" for "Democrats," it would air on FOX and Limbaugh for days. That's the fundamental difference between Republicans and "everyone else" media. We don't really get outraged. We just kind of laugh at you and move on. |

| dickfreckle sithon: diploma roberts or Everyone on Fark makes stoopid typos, so I only bother correcting them if it completely changes the meaning of the sentence. I should probably start using the preview button. Usually I just take a swig of scotch and go in dry. |

The amusing thing is being pulled over by cops who wonder why some guy on a motorcycle has a case of Johnnie Walker is strapped to his passenger seat. Even in this soaked town, it happens from time to time. Have all you want, but this bottle here is mine. |

That's the fundamental difference between Republicans and "everyone else" media. We don't really get outraged. We just kind of laugh at you and move on. Perhaps we need a little more outrage on the liberal side of things. Because we don't throw a a fit, because we don't lockstep... We lose ground by compromising. This teacher should be farking fired. But she won't, because her community is filled with lockstep conservatives- who will protect their backs. No teacher should involve the students in politics...unless its current affair class. |
||
| dickfreckle Darth_Lukecash: because we don't lockstep... You just summed it up. You and I likely have the same basic core beliefs, but there's probably a ton of of details we don't agree on. In today's GOP, even the details must be adhered to in order to be a member of the club. We don't get outraged because, despite decades of conservative claims, we don't have a unifying voice. And I would hate for that to be the case. I agree that there should be more (much more) outrage, but because we're not all lockstep to some am radio show, that's not happening. I think that makes us the bigger man. We lose fights here and there, but we're not going to lose the battle. |

Well, technically, if they dont already have christian beliefs, they wont give a crap if they get into heaven, so subby is mistaken. |

| log_jammin KrispyKritter: . it was a psychology class. she was trying to get the students provoked, to think and react. Gilbert said the problem started before Baker wrote the statement on her board. The day after the election, there was discussion in Baker's psychology class about the presidential vote. President Barack Obama defeated Republican challenger Mitt Romney, but in Laurel County, where registered Republicans outnumber Democrats 3 to 1, Romney trounced Obama by a vote of 18,151 to 3,905. During the classroom discussion, Baker made remarks in class against same-sex marriage, Gilbert said. Chelsea Gilbert, an admirer of Obama, told Baker she was offending people, Mary Gilbert said. There are gay students in the class, Mary Gilbert said. She said Baker responded by telling Chelsea she would someday have to take her parents to the emergency room and watch them die because of the president's health care reform law, commonly called Obamacare. uh huh. |

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Did she believe there would be no repercussions? Apparently, she was correct. She is still teaching, after all. My guess is that if she had written something nasty about Sarah Palin (or John Calipari) she would be down at the unemployment office this morning, trying to figure out why they denied her claim. PreMortem: This is honestly the first time I've heard of someone home schooling their kid to keep them away from religious nutjobs. My mom did that with me. The movie The Craft came out and the principal said that anyone who saw it would be suspended. She thought that was idiotic on principle and the curriculum was too slow for me anyway. /I watched the movie eventually, but for much more leggy reasons than its perceived anti-Christian agenda. |
