I would have preferred death by snu-snu, but whatever. |

That's just Sikh. |

I'm pretty sure he didn't want to die, or die like that. From the article it mentioned side-effects of anti-malaria medication, and while I've never had any anti-malaria medication I've heard that shiat is a trip. A friend of mine in university, whose father worked for the UN, claimed that every year at regular intervals her father turned the family out of the home and went crazy for a few days. |

Sikhs are gentle in peace, but under duress they are great fighters. Even being gentle, their abilities can sometimes get the better of them. This is just a sad thing all around. |

"I'm terribly sorry but I've killed him, sorry Devinder." Wow! I've gotten shiatty emails before, but damn. Pick up the phone dude. |

Fearing for his own safety and in an attempt to calm his friend down, the devout Sikh grabbed him in a headlock and pinned him tightly to the ground. Could have gotten much uglier. |

| Smoky Dragon Dish Dr Sivia told the inquest he initially thought Professor Rawlings was playing dead and believed "goodbye cruel world" was a reference to a Pink Floyd song they had been listening to earlier in the day. "I thought this might be a ploy to get me to release him because it was so melodramatic," he told the inquest. But when he realised he was not getting up he then emailed the professor's wife to apologise for killing him. Mrs Rawlings said: "At 2230 I got an email from Devinder saying, 'I'm terribly sorry but I've killed him, sorry Devinder'. "I couldn't believe he was serious, neither of them were practical jokers but I was tired and had jet lag." You can't make this shiat up. |

That's no Sikh, that's Robin Williams in disguise. You can tell by the chimpanzee arms and terribly loud fashion sense. |

That was a farking awesome article. Pure Fark goodness. Couple of things. One; poor mathematician! It's pretty clear he didn't intend to kill the astrophysicist. Two; I didn't realize mathematicians were so badass. I like it. Astrophysicists better step off. |

[imgs.xkcd.com image 740x308] Yet somehow that xkcd missed Philosophy, which would be to the right of the mathematician. Applied Philosophy = Science. Nah. It's to the left of sociologists or we would have the same philosophic views as the ancient era philosophers. We do not, as when society changes, so do our view of right and wrong and other modes of thinking. But I would acquiesce that philosophy may loop around from the left of sociology and back to mathematics as the study of thinking tend to take one through all the sciences, if you are doing it right. That being said, damn! Poor, poor Dr. Sivia. That has got to suck the biggest of donkey dicks. I can honestly say, I hope I never have to kill my best friend. |

Smoky Dragon Dish: You can't make this shiat up. I suppose not. There's enough tackiness to that story that at first I assumed it was shenanigans, but by the time it all added up I realized it was just sad and awkward. But really, who the hell emails someone to apologize for having just killed their husband? |

Where do you suppose 'scientific thought' came from? |

What an astrophysicist might look like... ![]() Her name is Amy Mainzer... she is on "Universe" and part of NASA's JPL group. She makes space even more interesting and enjoyable to learn about... |

Giving evidence at the inquest Professor Rawlings' wife Linda, 50, said he had initially suffered mental health "side effects" 15-years ago after taking the controversial anti-malaria drug Lariam during a holiday to Kenya. I read up on anti-malarial options on travelers' forums a few months ago, and many people reported side effects from Lariam. Reports of strange dreams were the most common, followed by visual disturbances that lasted long after the last dose. The thing that impressed me most was that many of the people who reported strange dreams said it was so bad they switched to a different anti-malarial for their next trip and never took Lariam again. That was scary. How bad can dreams be? They didn't described them as nightmares, just said they were "disturbing." |

Note to self: never take anti-malarial drug Lariam. |
