Nothing like terrorists being allowed statehood. Symbolic, will just divide Israel and its allies from Europe and the lesser countries any way. Next they will be on the human rights council. "Palestine, only 4700 rockets launched against civilian cities this year! We know human rights!" |

So, the UN can finally stamp Resolution 1 as complete? |

I've heard that a large amount of support that Israel gets from US Christians is due to the fact that they believe that they're helping bring Jesus back. Don't they also believe that Israel has to be destroyed to bring about the second coming? Or am I mistaken? |

Fine, then give the people in the West Bank and Gaza full Israeli citizenship and political representation and compensate for lost property. Somehow, I think you'll hate that choice too. |

So, when does the war go nuclear? |
||
| fusillade762 The historic vote came after impassioned speeches from Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who asked the UN to "issue the birth certificate of Palestine," WHAR LONG FORM? WHAR??? red230: I've heard that a large amount of support that Israel gets from US Christians is due to the fact that they believe that they're helping bring Jesus back. Not sure if they need to be destroyed, but they definitely don't get to go with the Christians to heaven. |

Next they will be on the human rights council. "Palestine, only 4700 rockets launched against civilian cities this year! We know human rights!" From wiki The ongoing expansion of existing settlements by Israel and the construction of settlement outposts is frequently criticized as an obstacle to the peace process by the Palestinians[24] and third parties, including the United Nations,[25] Russia,[26] the United Kingdom,[27] the European Union,[28] and the United States.[25] In July 2012, the UN Human Rights Council decided to set up a probe into Jewish settlements. Israel responded by saying it would bar the Council's experts from access to the sites.[29] It's hard to side with the Israelis. |

| Mithiwithi Actual headline: UN recognizes Palestine as non-member observer state For all the symbolic significance this has, the practical significance is minimal, even by UN standards. |

Thunderpipes: Nothing like terrorists being allowed statehood. So since "some" in palestine are terrorists and "some" in the US are terrorists, does that make all of us terrorists? Thunderpipes: "Palestine, only 4700 rockets launched against civilian cities this year! We know human rights!" Meanwhile Israel only killed 35 children in the last two weeks alone. |

The UN didn't agree to anything. The UN is not an actor in these situations. 140 odd states that are members of the UN voted to upgrade Palestine to non-member state status. The Reuters headline says this is "implicit" recognition because a general assembly vote is usually considered recognition, but isn't quite the same explicit thing. runaway06: So, the US didnt block the resolution? So, being a member of the UN isn't the same as being a state. For a state to become a full member of the UN, the security council has to approve too. The US has a veto in the security council, but not in the general assembly. |

| Lost Thought 00 Either Palistine is a nation state, or Israel is guilty of running the worlds largest slave ring. It's necessarily one or the other. |
