Gugger took the jacket home, shook out the sand, and washed it off. It was in extraordinary condition, and upon closer examination, she noticed the words "West Point" and "issued to deGavre" on the inside. Determined to get the jacket back to its rightful owner, she contacted West Point's Association of Graduates, which cleaned and preserved it and tracked down deGavre's family. /props to her for not selling it on ebay for personal profit. //salute' |

This would look great in the shop, but I gotta get it for the right price. There's water damage and the economy ain't what it used to be. I'll give you 50 bucks for it, cash money, right now. |

| laulaja Ms Gugger's one of the Good Guys for getting the tunic back to Mrs deGavre. He to whom it was issued was instrumental in Saving The World, Back In The Day, which is greatly appreciated. Also approve for personal reasons of top response & pic. Am somewhat acquainted with He Hoo brought it. ![]() B-25s which also helped Save The World, in formation over USAF Museum, Wright-Patterson AFB, 50 mi N of us. |

Cool story, Subby, but wordy headline. Your editors would surely have trimmed it: NJ Woman finds tunic of WWII hero (West Point, '33) in Sandy's aftermath Or, better yet, just swipe the headline from TFA, if you don't have a clever twist on it: Lost military jacket found on post-Sandy NJ beach /Cool story, nonetheless--glad to have seen it |

If you look very closely at the top of the rightmost cylinder on that building, that's the IMAX Theater at the US Air Force Museum... and that's me atop the theater shooting photos of the flyover. One of the most epic weeks of my life. This is a great shot, where did you find it? /sorry for the threadjack |
